The Costa Rica Tourism Board maintains a comprehensive website that covers just about any question you might have about travel to Costa Rica and what to do once there. From this website you can gather information on what to do, where to go, and where to stay, along with a number of maps and bus itineraries.
In San Jose, you can stop by the Insituto Costarricense de Turismo office located on the eastern side of the Plaza de la Cultura on Avenida 0/2. The office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Here you will find all the free brochures you ever wanted to collect, along with bus schedules to help you get to wherever you want to go. You can also pick up a copy of the free Culture Calendar, a monthly paper that lists information about festivals and concerts across the country.
