The nearest airport to Vernazza is Genoa's Aeroporto di Cristoforo Colombo (GOA), about 64 miles away.  This airport services flights from most other major European cites as well as from the U.S.  Travelers who want to search for bargains may also want to check flights to Pisa's airport, roughly the same distance away.

From Genoa visitors can take the commuter train to Vernazza, which is considered the best and easiest way to go because there is no car traffic in Vernazza Village.  The train ride is also quite scenic as it travels along the Mediterranean coastline along cliffs and through small villages.  For more information on the train's schedules and fares check  Tren Italia's website (site is in Italian).

Cars can also be rented at Genoa's airport, but driving to Vernazza can be difficult due to narrow and sometimes bad roads.  Maps are also not always accurate.  And, as mentioned before, there is no car traffic in Vernazza Village so all drivers will have to leave their cars in the parking lot located about 1/4 mile north of the town.
