Wow, well what can I say other than this is the dream holiday? As anyone normally does, I read the reviews in the process leading up to us going away. I was a bit sceptical with the mixed reviews but please do not take any notice of this. This was the best holiday of my life and cannot complain at a single thing!

When we first arrived, we were greeted by a band with some fruity non alcoholic cocktail. It was beautiful, first impressions of the lobby were great. Staff were very friendly and helped with whatever questions we had.

The rooms were perfect! We had a groundfloor one, no sign of any critters in the room while we were there for the two weeks. Our housekeeper was so nice, I ended up giving her some clothes and shoes and left over toiletries and she was over the moon. She even ran after me because I left my pandora ring when we left the room to go home. It was so clean and she left cute statues with the towels every day.

The food was beautiful in both the normal restaurant and the a la carte. Unfortunately we couldn't go in two of them because my boyfriend didn't have smart trousers, so remember to take some! you can't wear shorts. Its the Italian and the Romantica. We went to the Caribbean and the Seafood. Both was amazing, in the Caribbean they cook the lobster infront of you, so cool! I tried a variety of foods as it's part of the experience and believe me it's totally worth it. The normal buffet was great, a different variety everyday of stuff. The grill near the back of the pool I highly recommend as they cook steak, chicken, burgers, pork fresh exactly how you want it and has a pasta bar where they prepare it all for you, do not miss out!

The pool and the pool bar, very clean and pool bar staff were so funny and nice. Nice to have a chit chat with other people at the bar. We met loads of great people, everyone is so friendly! We are even coming back next year with friends from home and who we met out there! :)

Unfortunately we were there when the hurricane hit in Sep 2016. But that didn't put us off either, the staff were so good to us. We received a food package and had meetings to let us know when we would be flying. We were put into lockdown. Those who were not seen as safe was moved to different rooms etc. It definitely made the experience a bit different!

They have wifi at 2 pesos and hour, it can be slow depending on how many people are on it but I still managed to contact home and check fb etc. Snapchat doesn't work by the way!

Honestly, if your thinking of going, do it. You will not regret it at all. Roll on Cuba 2018. It was amaaaaaazing and can never think of going anywhere else now, nothing will compare for the price you pay!

Wow .... wow ....wow ...!!!
I wanted 2 weeks of total relaxation and that's what we got
Arrived 15th Dec - 29th Dec
We stayed in the premium side for the full holiday... and I'm so glad we did. !
On arrival we where whisked away on a golf buggy to premium as soon as we got off the bus ,and where then greeted with a hot towel and a glass of champagne
After a quick check in we when then taken to our room by our butler osmani who showed us where everything was and how to use the A/C , T.V ,coffee machine and asked us what our preferred drinks where for the mini bar , within minutes he returned with our choices , big bottles of rum ,vodka, we where expecting miniatures!! And you can change too what ever you want i.e. Gin ,whiskey, rum ,Bacardi, wine etc
There's also beers , lemonade , Coke , water , carton of juice and milk & water
Which is restocked daily and again if you run out ,just let them know
I was amazed by the size of the bathroom huge double jacuzzi ,corner shower ,double sinks ,toilet and outside there is a huge space with super powerful shower hair dryer with shaver socket
There's a walk in wardrobe where you will find drawers ,hangers and an electronic safe , 2 bathrobes and slippers .
There's a huge king sized bed with side lamps and reading lights ,clock radio with iPod dock , you can also have choice of pillows from the pillow menu if you don't like what you get .
Telephone in lounge area ,bathroom and toilet
The beds I found very comfortable.
There's also outside space ,balcony with a day bed , table & chairs . We had a ground floor room .
The rooms come in blocks of 4 which keeps noise levels down.

Our butler was either osmani or Edgar who work very hard making sure we had everything we needed .these guys are amazing and so friendly and work very long hrs tending to our needs . They will also make any reservations for the al-le-carte restaurants and check your flight information or your return home .
They also bring you room service,we had this a few times during our stay especially after been out on trips & arriving back late and tired .

The restaurant we used was lovely tho the menu did get a bit boring towards the end ,could do with a bit more choice for breakfast/dinner
⭐️️One waitress who really shined ⭐️️in the restaurant was ⭐️️Suzanne⭐️️ !! Always happy & smiling and in general was just amazing with everyone ,and always helped with menu issues (if we wanted something different)

Some of The staff at the snack bar need to take a look at how Suzanne works !!

The bar in the lobby was lovely serving lovely coffee too pina colada's , but we felt this was sometimes spoilt by having to endure music from either a pianist or violin
When all we wanted was to have conversations with people we met .
We felt that we had to shout instead of talk and going to the pool bar wasn't an option as it closed on an evening ,so on many occasion we just had to leave

The pool was lovely and the area around it was kept clean (tho it could do with a good power wash) as there was quite a few spilt. drinks stains here n there , and not to mention a million ants !! the staff again at the pool bar worded hard hi to osmani , lourena ? & Michael
The pool has a lovely swim up bar and a guy comes round bringing you a cushion for your sunbed . There's also the snack bar here where you can have lunch ,there's anything from lobster / toastie/ ice cream etc .

*you also get premium alcohol served this side of the hotel

Golf carts will take you to where ever you need to be if needed .

There's a gymnasium which is very well equipped and here you will find Alex who will guide you through things

The beach is lovely but a bit disappointing that the water sports are way down the other side of the hotel where it's rammed with 'the other side of hotel guess '

There's lots of trips available,we did fantastica ,which was a combination of horse riding , speed boats , swimming with dolphins and some history stuff and lunch included.

And paradise island , sailing on a huge catamaran over to Island paradise ,with option of either snorkelling or time on the beautiful beach lunch included which was quite nice with good choices then time on beach before sailing back.drinks are included in catamaran and 1free drink with lunch

There's a little market on every day just 10 min walk from hotel ( turn right out of hotel ) and a few shops that sells crisps ,cigs , sun lotion , and other Bitsn bobs ,also a bowling alley & cinema
And a little bar where we found drinks fairly priced .

The down side of things .....

# food ! Menu very repetitive and needs a re vamp and a choice of things like salads ,jacket potato etc and SOfT bread instead of bringing out semi warm hard bread which breaks your teeth !!

# We went over to the other side of the hotel for Xmas eve gala dinner and it was like the feeding of the 5,000 everyone rushing n diving in to get to the food like it was their last super !! Omg I'm so glad we didn't book this side for our holidays I can tell you !! Some of The staff are a totally different breed too !! There was kids running about everywhere and not looking where they are going and bash into you ,while the parents just sit back in oblivion
I couldn't get back to the other side fast enough, within a few hrs I started with severe stomach cramps and had to rush back to our room !! Xmas eve ruined !!

# wifi free if on premium side , you are given scratch cards which gives you 30 min wifi ( if your lucky to get a connection) or if your in the other side of the hotel you have to pay think 2.50 peso

# violin / piano players most nights ,can't have a conversation without having to shout over to other guests , and doesn't help that the 2 seater sofas are speed out some what .

# pool bar closed in an eve !
This bar needs to be open ! Some Cuban bands would of been great here n room for guests to have a little dance etc

# no evening entertainment other then stated ^ unless you go over to 'the dark side'

All in all had an amazing time with fantastic weather and great company with new friends.

Stayed in this hotel complex for the first time but will definitely return in the near future because of the professional and friendly staff. Really well done to all staff members! Look forward to seeing you again. The room was massive, booked a suit and received 3 interconnected rooms all with bathrooms and minibars!

We usually do boutique style small properties but booked late.....and wanted relaxation and Sun for Christmas......we,got it ...here,are my thoughts on the place.....my 75th review !!!!

1 pros.......
Although it is huge complex it is spread over a great stretch of beach in fab gardens so there is a feeling of space.

The rooms, are large, the beds, are large and comfy, the bathrooms are large.

The staff are great, consistently friendly and helpful...fab service(apart from a rude drinks sever on beach who ways pointedly ignored us because we didn't tip him straightaway)

The ice cream parlour and the freshly ground coffee bar in the lobby was a treat and we made sure we passed by daily......you will need to get your morning and afternoon coffee here as the restaurant coffee and tea is not good at all....but you can get any variation of coffee at the lobby bar coffee train.

The pool is absolutely huge and you can do a good walk along the beach...I like a long beach!

Special mention for the seafood flambed in rum at the Caribbean restaurant. And the simple but excellent fried chicken lunch at the Cuban cantina. Please, make sure you have your own hot pepper sauce for ALL restaurants......Cubans don't do spicey.

The house band is fab......catch them playing Cuban sounds you will want to dance to.Overall entertainment is all the usual stuff....some good singers and musicians though.

You can gave lobster and prawns every day if you wish.

2 Cons

WiFi is,appalling....even in the lobby itself.Forget about it.....put your phone in the safe and have a tech free week.

You need to be,at breakfast by 8am latest.....no lie ins ...or it is like a big noisy canteen....we got to the smaller Criolla restaurant by 8am and enjoyed a quieter experience.Same for the buffet at night....go early.

Location is only good if you want to stay put in the resort......nowhere local to walk to which is a shame....we,like to get out for a wander.

But that it ....not much at to moan about.Friendly and relaxed with lots to eat and drink .

My suggestion to the management would be to cut down on the range of foods in the buffet and concentrate on doing fewer dishes better......I don't think anyone needs chips, mashed potatoes, chicken, and a hundred types of pork products with a mountain of cake in the morning? And there is only one juicing machine so of course it broke quickly and wasn't fixed. That's it.

A week here would be good after a week of culture and history maybe in Cienfuego or Trinidad Da Cuba....it's a chill out place.

Room tip: Blocks 10 and 11have great sea views....we had 1023. Second floor opposite beach

This was our third visit to pp staying in a basic room
We had a lovely room newly decorated and received a bottle of rum and invite to a gala dinner as returning guests.

Positives for this place are still the variety of paces to eat and drink and the magnificent beach.

We had a couple of niggles
Firstly what have they don't to the lovely coffee bar! No lists of what's available and all coffee being served in hospital type cups
Bring back the proper cups for each type of coffee and the menu so people can see what's available.
Secondly was the lack of any form of cocktail/drinks menu at the bars and if you asked in the lobby bar for the gentleman to suggest a cocktail he just shrugged his shoulders.
Final niggle was the absolutely vile wine served at the paid for beach BBQ extravaganza it's so notably bad (tastes of water) the waiter warned us prior to our meal and tried to sell us a better wine.
If you know it's bad why are you serving it at a paid al a carte we had much better in the free ones.

Improvements we saw
Were toilets etc all freshly painted and much better apart from the beach one which desperately needs attention.
Rooms being renovated

We still all had upset tummies my feeling is it's the water they wash things in
For myself it was easily controlled with a bit of Imodium but our friends who were first time Cuba visitors lost a full day ill in bed.
