Very ordinary cellar door in my humble view and I've been to a significant number. It has a jumbled and overly commercial aura. The wines don't hit any significant heights in my view either. There are much better cellar doors in the district.

Shaw Vineyard Estate is a true local wine experience. All the wines produced are sourced from their Murrumbateman property and the extensive vineyard can be viewed across the road from the cellar door. Shaw Vineyard Estate is a true family operation and this adds to the appeal of the experience with the team being very knowledgeable on all aspects of the wine life cycle from the management of the vineyard, the vintage conditions through to the individual wines in the bottle. There is bound to be a wine to suit any palate with a wonderful Sparkling Wine and great examples of Cool Climate Riesling, Shiraz and a burgeoning favourite - Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate's "Merriman" label is reserved for the "best of the best" and is an absolute delight. With a restaurant soon to be re-opened, this is a wine experience highlight for the Murrumbateman region.

We visited this winery as the first stop on our wine tour yesterday (8 July). We were a little early to meet the other members of our group, and were warmly welcomed and invited to sit by their cosy fireplace on the comfy couches to await the arrival of our friends. This cellar door was by far the best building of those we visited and the wines etc were also good.
The cellar door is open from Wednesday to Sunday for wine tastings, and they also stock a range of jams, olive oil, chocolates, sauces and mustards made by local and wider NSW businesses, as well as lots of ceramics. The olive oils ('la barre', produced in Yass) were available for tasting yesterday, and were very good; we especially enjoyed the garlic and rosemary infused one, and we have previously bought the straight EVOO and enjoyed it also.
We tasted an array of their wines and especially enjoyed their reds, as well as the Riscato (riesling and semillon grapes with shiraz skins for the gorgeous colour), and the 2012 award-winning Botrytis Semillon.
They do have a restaurant which is currently closed, however this will be re-opening in August under new management, the previous restaurant lessors having left in January.
We'll certainly return in the future, both for the wines and to try the new restaurant.

Visited during Canberra Wine Week. Well worth the trip, however Murrumbateman is not that far from down town - very pleasant 30 minute drive. Cellar door is located inside a purpose built building which caters to a couple of small groups / couples at a time on tasting.

There is also a lovely lounge area with a large log fire and an outdoor terrace for the warmer months. Lovely range of estate wines on offer - our favourite was the Riesling - which surprised. Absolutely luscious on the palate and oodles of bouquet - think citrus / lime. Lovely and dry with no residual on the palate.

PS - they have up to Edition 3 of wine dogs and the 1st edition of wine cats in store - enjoy over a glass of red in front of the fireplace in the cooler months ahead!!!

Great display of hand made Italian crockery and other items for sale. Had a cheese platter for 3 with wine, good value. Friendly staff and good wines.
