We had an amazing stay at Bongani. It all starts when you are fetched from the welcome centre and you drive up to the lodge through the meandering and scenic route through the mountains. Service is exquisite from arrival to departure, and all the staff are very attentive and willing to go the extra mile. The meals were delectable, and prepared with the freshest ingredients. Without exaggeration, everything was superb and the safari with Simon (guide) and Thokozani (tracker) was incredible. They are very informative and go all out to track and find all the animals in the reserve. I highly recommend Bongani to those who want to connect with nature.

Bongani is such a special place.

The moment you arrive you start relaxing. The staff is friendly and helpful.

The viewing of game is great as the ranger takes you to the animals.

I will definitely go back again

Our trip was six nights in the Mountain Lodge at Bongani and the service, food and friendly staff was incredible. From The Lodge Manager Johan and Surette to Noel the Operations manager as well as field rangers and Kitchen staff. You can sit and observe the sunset and watch natures Wonders unfold.
The Community Outreach at Bongani is excellent and good to meet Christine Menard who has added 23years of Philantrophy to Bongani and the Community. Well done to AHA for once again a great product.

Room Tip: Take a room with Endless views

Just spent a week at Bongani. Loved everything about it from the beautiful location high above the bush, to the individual thatched lodges and the wonderful wildlife that wandered freely around the grounds.
To get to Bongani you have a 35 minute drive in an open jeep from the gates up a very rough track. It is an exhilarating ride and magnificent views round every corner.
The lodges are spacious and well equipped. Enormous bed with mosquito nets for nighttime peace of mind. Plenty of hot water, towels and accessories. A lovely deck to enjoy the sunsets, monkeys and impalas.
The dining room was open and airy serving buffet style food, mostly delicious and plentiful. I am vegetarian and they were happy to cater for me! On several nights we had a ‘boma’ or outside bbq. Candlelit and charming with the staff giving impromptu singing and dancing.....again the food was excellent served by Mumma Africa.
We went on several game drives in the open jeeps. Our guides were knowledgable and fun driving into the bush if they spotted anything. We saw giraffes, rhinos, elephant, gudus, impalas, nyalas but no cats!
There are incredible views from the swimming pool/viewing deck and it was fun to spot the animals in the bush below Bongani.
A wonderful experience, would not hesitate to go again!!

Set high up in the mountains, this is a wonderful lodge with lovely comfortable bungalows, exceptionally friendly and helpful staff and a peaceful atmosphere that is just fabulous. Travelling to the lodge is not for the faint-hearted and involves a 1 hour drive in safari jeeps up what I can only describe as tracks that resemble a dry river bed in places. However, this adds to the sense of adventure and fun and what with the views and the winding, vertical in places, track, you really get the feeling of being an explorer in Africa. We were even lucky enough to see Klipperspringers and Kudu as we travelled up the mountain that first day. My husband has mobility problems and walks with a stick. The staff were very good with him and ensured he sat in the front of the jeep even providing a cushion for added comfort on the game drives. On a couple of evenings when he was very tired, one of the security lads even brought the jeep to the bar to transport him the short distance to our bungalow. The food is excellent and plentiful with the chefs keen to ensure everyone has enough to eat. Alex, our tour coordinator was great, she ensured everyone was happy and knew exactly what we needed for each excursion. Game drives in the reserve are an adventure and the guides and drivers very knowledgeable and approachable. I would strongly recommend this lodge to anyone of any age who are young at heart and keen to experience the - beauty of the bush.
