Very welcoming host and hostess and staff provide excellent meals and comfortable lodging. The Lodge offers great views of the Malawi plain and is surrounded by the forest reserve where hiking trails are available. I would suggest a minimum 3 day visit as the 28 km dirt road from the village of Nchisi is daunting at the best of times. This road requires a high clearance 4-wheel drive vehicle and should not be attempted after dark.

Dear JC,

thank you for your review! Yes, the road can be a challenge. As some of the hikes in Ntchisi Forest. We always advise a high clearance 4 x 4, although simple sedans manage to get to the lodge. The lodge and its surroundings however make an adventurous trip worthwhile. At least, that is what we strive for. The beauty of the Forest, the silence at night, the Milky Way above, comfortable beds and meals prepared with passion should do the tric.

Irene and Rob are great hosts, the food is fantastic, the surrounding stunning. Great walks in the forest. On e of the last untouched rainforests of Malawi. Easy 2h drive from Lilongwe and a must for every visitor to Malawi. Great weekend escape for residents too.

Dear Martin,

thank you for your positive words! We recently cleared the trails and refreshed the signs in the Forest. Hopefully a lot more people realise that Ntchisi Forest is the last remaining afromontane rainforest in the South of Africa (not only of Malawi) and help us to preserve and protect it. Or at least enjoy it like you and many others!

Everything about our stay at Ntchisi was fantastic! We could only stay for one night but would have stayed for the whole of Christmas if we hadn't made other plans already! The forest is absolutely spectacular and we could have spent weeks walking around it taking in every bit of it! We stayed in one of the luxury tents, the room was great and in a beautiful spot just inside the forest. The food was excellent and Rob & Irene are great hosts who were really helpful. Overall it's an amazing place to stay and well worth the trip!

Dear Rob,

It’s a pity you couldn’t stay longer. But of course you are always welcome at the lodge. We are sure there is a lot more to explore in the forest. No leopards (although…) but other beautiful flora and fauna. We were very happy to see how you and Amanda enjoyed the lodge and its surroundings.

Thank you again for your stay and your symphatic review!

Very warm hosts, excellent meals, beautiful surroundings and a fantastic guide who, accompanied by the sweet dogs, lead you through the rainforest. Do not skip this fantastic piece of Malawi if you are traveling around.

Dear Katrien,

Thank you for your kind words. And amazing photo’s! Your Milky Way is fantastic! We think that Ntchisi Forest is a small hidden star in Malawi and are always happy when guests experience the same. And yes, our guides Eston, Sella and Simba are very special. They all three love the forest. For a good reason!

Thanks again and hopefully we’ll meet again.

wide rooms (don't take the small ones), a real cook so food is exceptional for Malawi, it is a real nice place to walk around in a protected forest ( I have seen a Serval and different groups of monkeys) and the place is really interesting for birdwatchers.
The confortable terrasse with a view on the lake (far away) is a pleasant place to take a drink in the the evening and watch sunrise if you get up early enough.
A place to stay for a few days if you like nature and calm.

Dear jacques,

Thank you for your kind words! We are very pleased about your appreciation of the lodge, especially about the food. We will pass it on to the chef. We together with our team do our best to maintain a high standard of food and hospitality. The forest does the rest!
Hopefully we will meet one day at the lodge again.
