What a surprising treat~we absolutely loved it!! We were approached by Sandra and had a delightful conversation about the history of the building and the company. The products are fabulous. This really is a must see kind of place to fully appreciate it. This was my first visit but won’t be my last!!
Loved chatting with you . Your enthusiasm was infectious. Look forward to seeing you again on your next trip to Canada.
Saundra and Karen were absolutely fabulous; very welcoming and eager to help! The store has a rustic, industrial feel to it and has a lot of cool historic facts and machines when you walk in! Definitely recommend!!
Thanks for your visit today. So glad you enjoyed your experience. We will complete the museum soon. Don't forget the sweetheart sale starts Jan 4 and end Valentines day.
The place is small, although currently undergoing renovation, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the deals are out of this world. My best buys over the past couple of decades are too many to list here, but a couple of them I will mention. My daughter and I have amassed over the decades a collection of "fancy" lace and old-fashioned gloves that we keep in a dress-up bag for my granddaughter, who played non-stop with them on her recent visit to our home. I also love what staff call the DogWalkers, suede mitts made from small bits of remainders from other larger sewn projects, I am guessing. These are the warmest mitts I have owned in my life. I have skated on the Rideai canal skateway for decades and my only regret about skating is that I did not discover the DogWalkers until a couple of seasons ago. No expensive, high tech, goretex, thermal or whatever mitt even comes close to the very reasonably priced DogWalkers for skating and my hands are always toasty warm now even if the temperature is in the minus 30s. I highly recommend the Portolano Glove Factory.
Our renovations are complete and we have expanded the store by 550 sq feet. More space to display products more effectively. We really appreciate your feedback and hope to see you back soon.
I purchase treats for myself ( shawl, gloves, hats) and Christmas gifts yearly! The store is a little gem, hidden in a very historic building.
I've become a regular at Portolano. The staff are lovely and helpful, but never intrusive. These ladies are so knowledgeable, helpful, and fun, it's like being with friends. The cashmeres, wools, and leathers are second to none and the colours and variety are amazing. There really is something for everyone, and with our long, cold winters, cozy (and stylish) knits and accessories are a must. You'll often luck in on a good sale or extra-special find. It's not just a cold weather destination, either. The pashminas, ponchos, and summer weight scarves/shawls are PERFECT for travel (and the easisest, most packable gift items to tuck into luggage/bags). So glad to have discovered this unique spot. Looking forward to checking out the new museum that's in the works, too. Highly recommend!
If you are in or near Prescott you have to visit the Portolano Outlet. Portolano family in Naples has been manufacturing leather gloves since 1895 . In this charming outlet store you will find not only the most beautiful, softest kid leather gloves in all colours of the rainbow - also all kinds of cashmere accessories - scarves, socks, hats, sweaters, too many things to list !!!!! - the most important thing is that you will never leave disappointed, you will never leave empty handed, and the service is unparalleled . When you have that special person to buy for you will always find something at Portolano, you won't break the bank and you'll feel like a million bucks. Sandra and Rachael will take excellent care of you. For history buffs you can spend some time talking to Sandra and Rachael about the history of Portolano, which has been going strong since 1895 !!! , in Prescott since 1986.. It is a must visit when travelling in the area.
