Than you Nicole and annalisa for the amazing staying in this beautiful island and hotel .
Everything was great, my transfer was waiting for me at the airport as agreed . The drive took 1:15 is a bit bumpy in certain points but it is not that bad, most of the time it’s pretty decent really. I arrived at the hotel the ladies greeted me and offered a drink, Nicole showed my room, which was great, super spacious and with a great view of the sea and pool. The whole hotel is pretty cute and beautiful, the food is super well presented and everything was delicious. I had a great Xmas dinner and Nicole invited me to her table as I was solo. Breakfast was great too, the fresh bread was amazing I stayed 7 nights so can be a bit repetitive for some but again I eat the same everyday at home lol, for me it was great. The pool was amazing too, never too full, be aware the sun is super strong and I am a professional being Brazilian , I stayed under the shade most days lol. The location is great as well, quiet and felt safe all the time, the beach is not long, but it’s long enough for beach walks . The hotel is about 200 meters from the rock rest which I went for lunch 4 tines ( will review that too) food was great . I could not be happier fir my choice of hotel, price was super fair and Nicole treats solo as well as couple ... fairly. I was tired from my 10 days safari so did not do much but there are activities that the hotel can organize. I went to pajé beach one day and was nice, but the sun kept me under the shade, the taxi is about $10. I also went to the sunset beach ( since from the hotel we had only sunrise ... which is beautiful , wake up and watch it!). The sunset beach , Nicole can organize the taxi as well, was ok, did not rock my boat , maybe it was that day but the bar did not have any cold drink, they did have drinks with ice, but since I was not drinking nothing with ice ( apart in the baladin where the ice is made of mineral water) I had a bottle of hot water ...but if you are not as fussy as me you will enjoy it. New Year’s Eve was cool, dinner organized , a great band and a Swiss artist we danced and mid night went to the beach ... I LOVED my staying there! You will too!
Eu amei minha estadia no baladin você vai amar tbem
Thank you ladies for the great staying and for looking after me !!

Right place to escape from a cold days, for ones who appreciate good balance of traditional and modern ... to remember and feel Africa. Beautiful design Butique hotel on a white sand beach. Perfect location for most of the attractions on Zanzibar... for couples or family for all that appreciate nature and beauty..

Our family of 5 = 2 adults + 3 children (age 11, 9, 7) stayed at Baladin Zanzibar in September 2018. We stayed in the beautiful Changa chalet, which was big enough to fit us all.Queen size bed on the top floor and 2 singles plus a mattress on the ground floor. Out of the 3 hotels we stayed at in Zanzibar, we enjoyed Baladin the best because they had a well-kept hotel, amazing personal service, and delicious food and beverages. But aside from those, Baladin is well-positioned in the "northern" part of the south beaches. It is a 5-minute walk to the famous Rock Restaurant and there are numerous hotels and restaurants and shops nearby. It is a quieter part of the southern beaches as well, as we didn't see as many "beach boys" and peddlers around the area, unlike in Paje and Jambiani. If you want peace and quiet, the beach in Michamvi and Baladin Hotel is the perfect spot. Also, from Michamvi (and Baladin), you can hire a local boatman for USD $10 per person for a few hours of snorkelling, starfish lagoon, and sand bank visit - all of them just right across the beach! That's a fraction of the price you'd pay for the same experience if you joined the popular "Blue Safari" from Stone Town, which can run you anywhere from USD $50-$90 pp. The price really made a difference for our family of 5! Everything was perfect with Baladin. The only downside for us was that we didn't stay longer. So sad to have left this home-away-from-home!

Room tip: Can't go wrong with any room. All face the beach and pool area.

I hate package holidays and all inclusive resorts, but I love the beach and the sea. This turned out to be a perfect choice for a family holiday.

Staff are excellent, friendly without being smarmy. The pool is marvellous, just the right temperature in which to cool down, because one thing is for certain, in December it is HOT.

Reef shoes are provided and really recommended even for swimming. The sea urchins are crafty hiders and the stings not recommended!

Rooms are spacious and even though my soul still craves air conditioning, wonderfully and simply appointed. The semi outside bathroom is wonderful.

The restaurant is good and similarly priced to others on the island. Particularly recommended is the samosas, saltado (ask for extra spicy) and the catch of the day.

A trip around the peninsula by dhow followed by a beach barbecue was wonderful. Without a doubt, the best seafood I’d ever eaten, cheerfully prepared by two young men in the barest of kitchens. Just fabulous.

But what really blew me away was the privilege of seeing perform, at a relaxed low-key beach hotel a musician of the calibre of Mich Gerber. I’d expect to hear this quality of music at the Met in NY or the RFH in London. Outstanding and a magical experience.

Professionally managed, attention to detail, kindness and discretion, highly recommended. If there was air con, I’d give 6 stars.

Room tip: If you can bag one of the end units, do it.

I loved everything about my stay at Baladin. The design and style of the hotel is "rustic chic" - everything is immaculate and clean but it has a very casual, relaxed vibe. I loved sitting in the main hut for breakfast and dinner and I had to keep asking them what playlist they had on as it just added to the atmosphere perfectly! The staff are all lovely and they felt like my family whilst I was there; this was my first holiday as a solo traveller and I can't think of anywhere better to have gone. Although they are attentive and help you with anything you need, they are discreet too and don't pester you. There was a mix of guests there but generally it was couples and small groups of friends. The hotel is incredibly relaxing and has so many different places for you to just relax and read, sleep, swim etc. If you are looking for a holiday to chill out and do nothing, this is it! Saying that, if you wanted to take taxis to other beaches or do excursions then the manager Nicole will sort that for you easily. I had high expectations for the hotel after reading other reviews but it exceeded them by far and I would love to return. My friends and family were all jealous of my photos and asking where I was! I would recommend the hotel a million times, though I sort of want to keep it as a secret for me.......
