Found this place totally by chance and we were so impressed. The lodge is beautiful and so in touch with nature. The waterfall hike and natural pool were such a pleasure and the staff were so friendly.

We had a Beehive for two nights and what a relaxing place this is. Staff are really helpful but be prepared to rough it a bit ! The power went off one night but you are given an emergency torch. No power means no fan and it did get warm as only small windows and door to open to get a breeze in but you live. Food was good.We fell asleep at night to the sound of the falls and what an impressive sight they are. There are plenty of nature trails ranging from half an hour to two hours and have stunning views.
Well worth a stay if you are close by, but showing it's age a bit.

We stayed for 3 nights in tent 5 at this beautiful retreat. Although the weather was rather wet this didn't detract from the beauty of the place. The tent had everything you needed with a well appointed bathroom behind. The staff were very helpful.
The lounge area was well set up for cosying up with a book or a game of chess.
Meals are ordered in advance and the menu surprisingly rounded for a small establishment. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the pool and hills was ample.
Probably not suitable for those with walking difficulties due to the amount of steps around the site. Guided walking trails are well marked with some fabulous views.
I wouldnt hesitate to return

We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay in Tent 5 despite the rainy weather that we've been having and thanks for posting so soon after your visit. We very much appreciate your descriptive and positive review.

We stayed at Phophonyane Falls Ecolodge and Nature Reserve for 3 nights as part of a family summer trip. We stayed in two of the tented cabins with attached bathrooms which we found to be comfortable and a break from the ordinary accommodation. The nature reserve has lots of hikes, the food at the restaurant kept us interested for three days of breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Everyone in the family enjoyed their stay.

We greatly appreciate your positive feedback on Phophonyane and are very pleased that you enjoyed the tents, as well the service of our staff and the food. Good to know that the whole family had a good time over the three days!

This was our tenth stay at Phophonyane Falls ecolodge and Nature reserve. We really appreciated also this stay. During the years they have improved the quality of the kitchen, the food was delicious. The staff is friendly and helpful. We enjoyed an almost 6 hours very nice walk from the lodge through a forest area, up to the highest mountain in the area with a fantastic view, returning via the local village together with an experienced, knowledgeable and clever guide. If you would like a peaceful stay close to the nature, go to Phophonyane and stay in one of the tents. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: We enjoyed the tents close to the river, but the toilets are outside with a little to walk

Thank you very much for your wonderful review of Phophonyane and for once again choosing to stay with us. It is great to know that things continue to improve. The 6 hour mountain hike does feature some of the most spectacular scenery in the country and is something that we need to promote better. Nice to know that our guide provided such good service. Thanks also for highlighting the tents! Looking forward to your next visit!
