We stayed in AMANJIWO for 4 nights (25-29th Dec) for a short break, and indeed it was the only break we had for the whole 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

it took 8 hours drive from Jakarta to the Amanjiwo, and arriving in the resort, we were greeted by Jann Hess, and others such as Pa Kurniadi, and another nice lady which i could not recall the name (but she was from another Aman resort in Bali).

we arrived at 12PM, and were allowed for early check-in (which is a great PLUS) after short briefing and introduction at the Lobby. Entering the main lobby, you can view the expansive views of the surrounding valleys, mountains and the iconic Borobudur temple from a distance. the villa itself is huge with ample space, huge wardrobe, outdoor sunken bath tub, and outdoor gazebo to enjoy the cool breeze, with greeneries, mountains and hills around you.

Food... Breakfast is complimentary, and they are very delicious and ample, and you will have more than enough. other times, you will need to pay for your meals, price may not be favourable for some, since they are in the expensive side, BUT..... they are very delicious. On once occasion we dined out at nearby hotel, it cost us almost the same at the end, with less satisfaction.... we were also served a complimentary dinner course (full course), since we stayed for 4 nights; and it was one of the best dinner we had, and they even allow a free additional dish (our son ordered) !!!

and... they have free car wash, which they offer to do everyday!!

Activities, there are heaps, we did cycling almost every morning, cycling down to nearby villages and rice fields while the mist is still covering the hillside, people here and the villagers are extremely friendly and helpful (mind you most villagers they don't wear masks)... There are free YOGAs sessions every couple of days in the morning, Sunset Meditation, Spiritual Cleansing, History Lectures every evening; which we really enjoyed very much.... Kudos to Mr Patrick who knows the history more than us !!!! even though he is a foreigner

Being located far-away from the main Borobudur temple, and other Hostels/ Hotels/ Homestays, mean your privacy is guaranteed, when evening falls, mist will blanket the rice fields and the hills, and even some areas of the Resort, adding some mystical elements to it ..... you will be amazed by the sound of mother nature from tokeks (geckos), frogs, crickets, and other insects..... and the bed, pillows (including the extra bed) are super comfy.... The private pool in our villa is enjoyed mostly by our son; but even without the private pool, the 40 meter main pool will give all guests the best lush greeneries view with Mt Merapi and Mt Merbabu in sight.

its sad time leaving AMANJIWO, and they even prepared us a box of Kue Lapis for our journey home.... thank you AMANJIWO team, one day, we will be back again..... STAY SAFE, HAPPY NEW YEAR 2021 to you all

Room tip: All Villas are nice, but we are lucky to have a pool villa

Perfect for everything. Best for everything.
When we arrive in Amanjiwo, meet and chit chat with Michel (GM Aman Villa) and Pak Kuniadi (front office manager). They are both very nive and friendly. Thank you Michel and Pak Kurniadi for the best hospitality during our stay.

All my bags and luggage already in my room (very apreciate for this).

Our anniversary dinner was very amazing. I love the appertizer and desert so much but for the main course is so so. But the services was so great. I love the table decoration. Very beautiful table setting. And thank you for that.

Our Progo picnic breakfast was very very amazing. Great food and drinks. Amazing view. Amazing services. Love love love this breakfast. Very recommended.

Sunset Martini was amazing too. Because of the weather was not good, raining all day long so the sunset martini was setting in our Villa. But that was so great. Love this. A very romantoc moment. The martini was so great.

We will stay again for sure, dont know when But we Will.

Last, love the check out cake. Very delicious.

Thank you Amanjiwo for our unforgetable 21st wedding anniversary and for the unforgetable family holiday.

The rooms are luxury in an old fashioned way, the private pool is lovely, the main pool is beautiful. I would suggest a stay of 2-3 days unless you find complete solitude your cup of tea.

The F&B could be improved for the price paid, but overall was a good experience, would i go back? maybe not but i would try another Aman resort.

Dear travelalot064

We are happy to hear that you had a wonderful time with us and thank you for your review. We are fortunate that the resort's timeless architecture is inspired by Borobudur monument. We're currently modernizing all rooms without changing the unique character of Ed Tuttle's architecture, who has designed several Aman homes worldwide.

Your compliments are appreciated and we truly hope to welcome you back in the future.

Last August me and family went to Amanjiwo resort. Quite exited having staycation during the pandemic. When we arrive at the resort it was really breathtaking view seeing the building itself. And the service super amazing, they took care of our car and luggages in the car while they ask us to do the check in, also they offer us to wash and clean our car. What a service.
The hotel manager Mr. Kurniadi greet us vert friendly, he showed us the hotel areas around the lobby.
It’s time to meet our room and it was super amazing room and we found out our suitcases and all stuffed has been there already arranged neatly.
The room it self I feel personal touch, the resort knew we travel with 2 kids si they has been provide 2 kids room sandals and bathrobes too. Mr Megi is the person in charge to bring us to the room and assist us.
All the food at the resorts also amazing, the portion fair enough for the whole family.
Nothing We can say for this resort but super excellent and amazing. For sure will back to this place again later
