Right at the center of town and on the seafront, this small well-run hotel is ideal for a stay in Argostoli from which to explore the island. Stayed for 5 nights in a side room with a balcony facing the sea - did not make much use of the balcony though. Staff friendly and always willing to assist with all our needs. Room comfy though a little on the small side. Breakfast items high quality and fresh. High praise

I am sorely tempted to hit the Average button, but out of respect for the friendly, hard working staff, I will reluctantly rate "Very Good". They do their best to make you feel welcomed,

The hotel business, like many, is prone to hype. Applying those first three words to this hotel is somewhere on the continuum between dishonest and delusional. How this hotel could be classified as four star is a mystery. We have stayed in plenty of three star hotels, in many countries, that have far more to offer. We usually stay in four and five star hotels, and this isn't one.

First the positives. They have a splendid location, a minimalist but pleasant first floor. They do a very enjoyable breakfast. The restaurant menu is "interesting and international" and while all dishes are attractively presented, not all measure up in taste and quality. The hotel is sparkling clean and quiet for the busy location.

The problems: let me count the most annoying.

While the lift is efficient, it has the ambience and feel of a freight elevator. It bounces when it starts and stops, and the door has the feel of a safe vault.I can only hope it is safe and inspected.

An Emergency diagram is not posted on your door. The small illuminated sign opposite the stairs could be more prominent. Find them for your safety.

Our main disappointment was our room. Yes, there is a comfortable bed, a decent flat scree television, but I have been in larger ship cabins. We opted for a Standard or Side View Room with a small balcony.

The bathroom has an efficient rainwater shower the size of a phone booth. It takes up around 30% of the bathroom. A toilet seat that won't stay up on its own is a minor annoyance for half the population.

Putting two track lights in a ceiling nearly 4 meters above is suitable for a basement or a warehouse, not a bathroom. Does anyone like to shave or put make up on in twilight conditions? The small sink is adequate, but there is only an inch or two of space on either side, no room for a toiletry kit. Getting ready requires four or five trips in and out of the bathroom with various toiletries.

A small point, but most quality hotels supply tissues. Of course, there is no room for them in the bathroom. They could put some on the shaky narrow table under the television. There was no room for a chair in the bedroom. A stool under the narrow table could be pulled out, and you could sit sideways next to the bed. Closet space was adequate.

At one point, I did mention to the front desk that we found our room quite small. The response was that they have more spacious suites. Perhaps so, If I had read the fine print, I would have seen that our category room, and most of theirs, is quoted at 20 square meters

Beach and waterfront hotels have a tendency towards simplicity. But we have stayed in many that understand and deliver elegance and quality. Not this time. Over the years, this is our 25th Greek Island. This property, sadly, doesn't measure up to what we have seen in the region.

Candidly, if we were to return to Argostoli we would look elsewhere.

Room tip: Go elsewhere

Kefalonia Grand is a fresh modern hotel overlooking the beautiful port.

Our room was on the small side, but not a deal breaker.

More importantly for us is the staff who we interact with every day were super helpful, friendly, always greeting us with a smile.

I have to give a special shout out to Martha, as a receptionist she was who we had first contact with, essentially giving a great first impression of this hotel. She is a beautiful girl both inside and out.

Nicos always has a big smile & up for a chat, definitely the go to man for information, he’s super helpful, so friendly, approachable and knowledgeable, also makes perfect flat whites, a skill we fully appreciated!

Yoanna and Pascale are a credit to this Hotel, their service was always first class, warm and friendly which ultimately made our visit to this Island even more enjoyable and memorable.

Thank you Kefalonia Grand hope to see you again!

Room tip: The hotel staff can answer all your questions!

This is our fourth visit to the Kefalonian Grand Hotel (which speaks for itself). It is a great boutique hotel which provides comfortable accommodation and very helpful staff. Especially Martha who could not have been kinder, providing useful information and advice. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for great service with a friendly atmosphere.

Room tip: No parking or swimming pool
