La Scala as the name indicates is right on the steps to La Scala di Santa Maria del Monte (called Scalinata by the locals). We climbed all the way to the top of the steps, visited the church and picked this convenient restaurant for lunch. We requested a seat outside and were accommodated but that's where the service ended. A large tour group came in after us and were seated inside creating a less than peaceful lunch for those of us outside. And our service deteriorated accordingly as I guess it was all hands on deck to handle the tour group. We finally did get food--a Pasta all Norma that was terribly over sauced--see photo. We were really hungry after climbing the 142 steps so ordered pork ribs and a pork chop. Each came on a plate without any other embellishments--no veggies and not even a garnish and they were cooked very well done. Disappointing but not disastrous.
