We arrived in Palaiokastritsa at lunchtime on a hot, crowded day. After wandering up and down the stretch of beach where the boats are moored, we spotted Il Pirata. They were advertising Pitta Gyros so we climbed the steps and were greeted with a warm smile and a delightful view across the bay.

The food was wonderful and very good value. The waiter was very helpful (my daughter has a milk intolerance) and they made one for her without Tzatziki. We ordered chips and a salad to go with them - but to be honest we could have left out the chips because the Pitta Gyros are quite filling.

The price is not too bad but our dishes were cold and pita had almost not meat. Beer more expensive but you are paying for the location.

Had some nice diner. Basic but traditional. Super nice service and delicious local greens served with the lamb. Came from her own garden. Democratic prices for this town. We will definitely be going back.

We went as a group of four and all ordered different meals. One of the meals arrived at least 15 minutes after everyone else's. Although we all tried different dishes they were all awful and my partner left his spaghetti Bolognese as it was inedible. Avoid at all costs.

After checking Trip Advisor listings I and my wife decided to visit this restaurant for quick lunch, misled by the 1 x € sign as stated on Trip Advisor, expecting to pay a little less for our quick lunch. What a mistake!

The restaurant is not cheap, and is not any cheaper than the restaurants nearby, not even cheaper than our hotel's decent restaurant.

I had stayed in Corfu for 7 days and tried different restaurants in the mid-price range (in the range of €€-€€€ as listed in TripAdvisor) at every lunch and dinner, and this is the worst in all categories, price-quality ratio, service and quantity

I and my wife arrived at the restaurant around 14:40, ordered two Mythos beers, one portion of grilled sardines and one portion of shrimp saganaki as main meals.

The draught Mythos beer (€4.50 each and more expensive than our hotel's restaurant) were served almost immediately, however, it took 40 minutes for the grilled sardines and 60 minutes for the shrimp saganaki to arrive (by the time we had finished half of our beer and the other half we were saving for the meals were lukewarm. It was one of the less busiest time in the afternoon but still they managed to keep us waiting and starving for 60 minutes.

They also served bread (something we never ordered but was charged for) and the bread became so dry under the sun by the time our dishes arrived. If you are not ordering bread you should be sending it back otherwise you will be charged €1 for the cheapest bread slices.

Grilled sardines: 6-7 small fish served accompanied with only lettuce and a slice of lemon. Very small portion at €9

Shrimp saganaki is the smallest portion I have ever eaten in my visit to 4 different Greek islands, full of oil and cheapest frozen shrimps were used. It cost €9 and served on its own with no side at all, whereas other restaurants nearby charge similar price but serve with chips and their portions are almost double the size.

Other menu items (mousakka, octopus in vinegar, greek salad, tzatziki) were more expensive than other restaurants nearby.

You will be paying a premium for the view

Do not be misled with the pricetag of €2.50 for souvlaki, the actual portion cost €8.50 without drinks.

We paid €28.50 for our two unfilling mains and two beer (and bread). We normally paid between €30 to €40 when we visited other restaurants in the area but typically ordered two starters, one Greek Salad, two mains, 200ml ouzo and 2 bottles of water, therefore, do not be misled by the TripAdvisor's 1 x € listing and expect a cheap meal here.

We should have dined in our hotel or elsewhere!
