Wow! Great food, great hosts

We visited as pilgrims on the St Jacques de Compostello pilgrimage and felt very well cared for. Our hosts were delightful and helpful. Our meals were outstanding. The restaurant features specialties from the region and does a great job.

A very fine place to stay with warm hosts who gave us the feeling of a warm home. Clean rooms, good honest food with a good selection of local wines and fine tips for traveling around. The hosts are always open for fun and loving and a good conversation.

We had a lovely meal at this Auberge. The owner, Alex, was incredibly friendly and shared information about the area. The menu choices were varied and there is something for everyone. The prix fixe is great value too.
The onion tart was really good (like a quiche). The salmon was delicious and others thoroughly enjoyed the cassoulet and the quail stuffed with foix gras. Desserts were also delicious. The servers were extremely kind, friendly and helpful. There is a good wine selection too.
I would call ahead to make a reservation.

Room tip: We didn't stay at the hotel.

Traditionally rustic, great character, spacious room, basic but clean and comfortable everything you would need, any more and you just have to ask. Very friendly and generous hosts. Evening meal and breakfast were delicious. great family atmosphere. Wonderfully peaceful.
Not for those wanting glitz or glamour.
Very good value will definitely stay again when able to.

Room tip: we had a family room which was very spacious and cool

We had the pleasure of spending 3 nights at Balestie. It is located on a very peaceful hill surrounded by fields and pastures. Our hosts, Alex and Rachel welcomed us and provided lots of information about things to do in the area. The location is perfect for seeing small villages as well as lovely Mirepoix. We enjoyed breakfasts that featured croissants and delicious bread from a local bakery. Evening meals are offered. We found them to be delicious and the use of local ingredients particularly added to the enjoyment of the meal. They graciously prepared a vegetarian meal at our request.
The rooms are clean and have nice linens and comfortable beds.
We enjoyed our stay and hope to return when we are in the area again.

As a family attending a local wedding we stayed for 3 nights on B&B. Views from rooms and from the patio are stunning. We were there in a 38 degree heatwave and the rooms were stifling, even with a fan. Alex was knowlegable and helpful in recommending things to do in the area and he very kindly made it possible for us to watch a Lions rugby game! However we were disappointed in the Auberge facilities. There was no communal area or bar to get water or cold drinks or even to sit and talk and socialise as a family after 10 pm when the place seemed to get closed and locked up. Breakfast was adequate but basic and expensive at Eu8 per person. Recommend Mirepoix, Carcassonne and MontBel lake.

Many Thanks for your review. Yes the weather in June was exceptionally hot which is not the norm, on your arrival at midnight we provided fans to your group to help reduce the heat as best we could and also provide large bottles of chilled water. On the second day, we arranged taxis for you to ensure you got to the restaurant on time. We have a bar and restaurant where our other guests dined with us throughout your stay, and to confirm we were still serving beyond 10pm. We are confused as to why you have said that we were shut at 10pm, perhaps you were on `UK time. We had guests in the restaurant/bar up until 11:30pm, as we were having a lovely chat with them. Rare are the days we have an opportunity to be shut at 10pm. As all our guests had left the bar/restaurant and gone to bed, we had assumed you were continuing your evening out, if you had mentioned to us earlier, that you were going to be late and would like to sit in the bar on your return we would have welcomed that. In terms of breakfast it is continental and is excellant value for 8 euros per person which includes a filter coffee, hot chocolate, a good selection of teas, baguettes and croissants, natural yogurt, a selection of fruit yogurts, good quality muesli, cornflakes, cheese, ham, fresh jams, also a selection of other jams, fresh fruit and fruit juice. The feedback from the majority of our clients is that it is a plentiful amount and good value. We hope you received your item that you left here, which we posted at a cost of 26 euros. We are very welcoming and it is a shame as we could have easily avoided your disappointment, if you had just informed us.
