On arrival we were taken to the side to explain about the hotel and meal times etc. and then back to reception to be allocated our room keys. It took a few minutes to find your bearings to your room and on entrance it was OK. The bedroom was two single beds put together but was comfortable with very lumpy pillows. Our balcony overlooked the sea and partial pool view. The bathroom was a lot to be desired with a very old white bath that the enamel was peeling off which made it look very dirty. We decided to have a shower to freshen up before dinner only to find that the water was luke warm and stayed like that all week.

Safe was 24 euros with a 10 euro deposit for the key for the week and a 10 euro deposit for pool towels.

Now to dinner - it was like a cattle market, no cleared tables, people pushing and shoving and down right rude. However, when we did get a table the food was not that bad and it was OK for the rest of the week even something for the fussiest of eaters I would say. Fish and pasta every evening seemed the norm.

Most of the bar staff that we encountered were very friendly and if you give them a small tip of appreciation they will look after you.

Entertainment is dire and not for anyone that is English - the hotel is geared up towards everyone but the English - I would say 15% English to 85% everyone else.

It took over an hour each way on transfers.

No dress standards for men in the restaurant in the evenings.

There is quite a nice private hotel beach but be warned get there early for prime spot on the sunbed and watch out of the naturists walking about - not a plenty sight after breakfast.

Weather was hit and miss with rain and sun but then it was November. The swimming pools were freezing hence no one was hardly ever in it.

No nice bars or restaurants within walking distance - someone mentioned Tony's bar - that was a shack to say the least the other one near the shopping centre was a German bar and certainly lacked any kind of atmosphere so we walked out.

Never been on holiday and brought most of our spending money home with us.

Overall the hotel was lovely on arrival but we would certainly would never return to this hotel simply because it is so boring of an evening.

Upholding our commitment to provide a memorable experience with exceptional service, we hope to have an opportunity to better your experience with us whenever your travels bring you back to our hotel.
We will now analyse your criticism and pass it on to the right department.

On some occasions and high occupancy we will consider a group check in to ensure guests satisfaction and a smooth check in where we explain everything in detail and hand out the keys with exact information of where to find the room.

We can ensure high quality in all areas of the resort, however if a client is not satisfied with the quality of a product we are more then happy to change it to ensure customer satisfaction. Furthermore our maintenance team works on a daily basis to mend minor faults. We would like to inform you that a modernisation of our Resort has been planned and will take place in the future.
We can assure you the resort has hot water at all times, however we will look into it and if necessary take appropriate actions.
We can also guarantee the hygiene and cleanliness of our resort. Our housekeeping cleans our Resort and rooms on a daily basis very thorough. We are sorry we didn’t reach your expectations.

Because of the very good room rates and offers the travel agents give to our guests we have to charge extras like Safe and wifi to ensure good value for money season after season. All this information can be found in all hotel descriptions.
The beach towel deposit is a refundable deposit it will be returned to you at check out same goes for the safe key deposit.

Our headwaiter and staff try to ensure a smooth service, however at peak times and high occupancy it might take a little longer to clean the tables. We would like to apologize for the wait you might have encountered. We insist men wear long trousers and every one is dressed appropriately for dinner. Therefore our hotel manager meets and greets every evening our clients at the restaurant door.
Our professional kitchen staff prepares a variety of fresh and high quality foods on a daily basis to ensure our clients have a lot to choose from. On different nights we have special themes like Spanish Night, Italian night, etc. Furthermore we prepare fish or meats on our live cooking stations. As well as our restaurant our clients can use the themed restaurant in our SBH Monica Beach Resort which is just a short walk away. There our clients can indulge in foods from Japan, China and Vietnam. The reservation is made through our friendly and helpful reception staff.
We would like to say that we do not differentiate between nationalities of our clients. We are very proud to host a mix of English, French, Italian, Spanish, German, Dutch, Swedish, Finish, etc. As the needs and expectations of each and every client are different regarding their holiday we offer a varied entertainment program throughout the day. While this is happening our professional entertainment team makes sure not to disturb the guests that do not want to participate. The daily program offers activities such as darts, archery, volleyball, etc. At night time our guests have the option to enjoy our professional shows. We are sorry you were not content with the entertainment on offer.

Regarding the sun beds on our private beach we do not accept it; however all we can do is mention it in a friendly manner.
Our hotel is located next to the public beach of Costa Calma where, as it is a public beach, you might encounter naturalist. However this happened very rarely as at the other end of Costa Calma Beach approximately three kilometres are a dedicated area for nudists. Not far away roughly 10 min walks our clients can find different bars, restaurants and shopping facilities. Every Wednesday and Sunday there is a local marked opposite the hotel and on the way there you will pass the bus stop. From the bus stop our clients can take the bus either to the south or north of the island. In the south (Jandia/Morro Jable) you can find a shopping mile and a good mix of restaurants and bars. In the north (Corralejo) our clients can find beautiful beaches, shops, bars and plenty of restaurants. All in all there is plenty to do during the day as well as at night time.

Our pool is heated to 24ºC throughout the year depending on the outside temperature as the sea during winter has a temperature of approximately 18ºC and we know our clients would like to enjoy a little splash or cool down after having enjoyed the sun.

We would also like to mention that the transfer is not part of the booked hotel package and is responsibility of the travel agent.

The best thing about this holiday was the weather!! The hotel is tired but my main concern was the food. On the third day in my daughter became ill with vomiting and diarrhoea that I have only seen with food poisoning, she missed 2 days oh the holiday and we only went for 1 week. The rep from Thomas Cook didn't really want to know and said all they could do was try the food themselves!! Keep away from any fish/seafood. The beach bar smelt and flies were everywhere, do not eat from here.

Thank you very much for have taken the time to share your feedback with us and potential customers. We are very sorry to hear your daughter fell ill during your stay at our SBH Costa Calma Beach Resort. However we can assure you it was not our food as an independent company takes food samples on a regular basis. Furthermore we have not heard of any other clients that had felt bad.
Cleanliness and hygiene are very important to us and we clean the hotel complex as well as all our rooms on a daily basis. Our bars, kitchen and restaurant are cleaned after each service thoroughly.
Due to the very wet October/November we had a fly plague on the island, we are sorry you had to experience this. Its over now but has affected the whole island.
We would love to host you again and win back your trust.

We went for a week from 13/11/16 arrived and was given our room 4010 I'd payed extra foe a sea view £90 but very disappointed with view we were above the evening entertainment shoved in the corner and had an an ajoyned balcony from the room next door had no privacy had to have curtains shut all the time as sitting in bed and you could see the people on their balcony as it was so close the rooms were OK rooms cleaned everyday cleaning staff were lovely the pool area was good lots of sun beds around the 4 pools and had a private beach as well hotel entertainers around doing activities all day and kids club we didn't us them but people said they were great water arobics every morning food was good lots f meat fish chips potatoes salads slice meats deserts no kids menu yes the beach bar could do with a good clean and flies were around as well but only seen 2 cockroaches there are 5/6 cats that live at the hotel In between the pool areas they are Sponcerd by a Charity and a lady comes everyday and feeds them they don't bother you and you can donate cat food like we did at reception you can buy it from the spar shop their is nothin outside the hotel only few shops and local bar the alcohol is OK quick bar service the staff were nice and helpful as the reception staff paid €25 for wifi and was rubbish a s well all in all nice hotel if looking for a quiet holiday just chilling by pool we would return for a chill out holiday needs a refurb tho

Thank you very much for have taken the time to write a review about our SBH Costa Calma Beach Resort. We are sorry to see that not all aspects of your stay were up to your expectation. However we would like to point out that customer satisfaction is very important to us and if we can help we do so with pleasure. If a client for any reason is not satisfied with their room we happily find an alternative as soon as possible.
Our hotel offers a wide range of activities for all our clients, children and adults. Our adult guests have a choice of different activities like water aerobic, darts, etc during the day. We also have a kids and teen club were our star guests the children can enjoy their time while the parents can enjoy a bit of “me-time”. Knowing their children are in good hands our guests can relax and enjoy their holiday to the fullest. At night time we offer our guest different shows and night time entertainment as well as a minidisco for our children.
The variety and quality of our food is very important to us and our chefs prepare everything freshly on a daily basis.
As well as working together with the charity “El Capitan” we working with an organisation which takes care of bringing back our turtles. Every time our clients change a beach towel we ask for 1€ which we then donate to that organisation.
To ensure Information about what we charge extra is found in all travel catalogues, sorry you have not recieved this information pprior to your stay.
We are already looking forward hosting you again in the near future.

Well where do I start it really is a rather tired old hotel and is not 4 star. The whole complex needs a huge facelift, we found the food and drink ok, but does cater for the Germans etc The pool bar stinks and is a fly pit I don't know how any body could eat anything from the snack bar it was covered in flys!!! We were told on arrival at reception that we were able to use the facilities, drinks and food at any of the SBH hotels in the area this was the one saving grace as we enjoyed going up to the Monica and Taro hotels and eating/drinking in the hotels there. The staff at the hotels were all great and worked hard and they were all clean!!
For a 4 star hotel I would of expected to be served drinks at your table but this did not happen at the Costa Calma but it did in the Taro!! The same in the restaurant you were not shown to your table it was just a free for all a bit like a cattle market!! Also we had to haul our cases to our rooms and locate them ourselves as they did not have any bell boys - bearing in mind it's a big resort, I felt sorry for some of the elderly guests in this respect.

Room tip: We stayed in 1 bed apt so had kitchenette which is handy but it was very dated!!

We appreciate your valuable feedback and taking the time to share your thoughts with us. We are sorry to see that not all aspects of your stay were up to your expectation. Customer satisfaction is very important to us. Fulfil their expectations is our highest goal. We guarantee our hotel is cleaned every day by our housekeeping staff. Unfortunately while you were in Fuerteventura the whole island was hit by a fly plague. We are sorry you had to experience this.
Further more we would like to mention that our SBH Costa Calma Beach Resort is indeed a 4* hotel. This can be seen in all aspects of the hotel might it be the quality of the foods and drink, the choice of room types we offer or the perfect location of our beautiful hotel. As the SBH Taro Beach also offers half board they offer a different service then an All-inclusive hotel. We hope that you will nevertheless choose to visit us again, and we look forward to hosting you in the near future. From what we have read the SBH Costa Calma Palace might be a better choice for your next holiday. There we offer a bell boy, at dinner our clients have an assigned table and sitting, we serve drinks at the table. Why not visit our official website to get an over view of the hotel.

Although the Hotel appeared to be well presented on arrival it soon showed through when you had a good look around. the furniture was tired and if you sat in the wrong place you would fall through on to the floor. We took a walk from the lift on floor one and was surprised to see dead cockroaches everywhere. The bigger surprise was they were still there 3 days later. The pool area was nice at night time as you could not see the tired looking sunbeds properly. The beach bar smelt horrible and my wife felt sick which put her off any food that was served in there.
The food itself was very basic for a 4 star hotel, the English selection was ok if you liked uncooked chips with everything. The hot drinks machine were only offered at breakfast time and didn't all work properly then. Got told on arrival that men had to wear long trousers and no vest tops which I honored. Shame others didn't as some sights were very of putting when trying to eat.
A very disappointing thing for us as non drinkers was the fact that there was no Kettle available for us to use in our rooms. And when I was told on my birthday that all I had to do was ask if there was anything the hotel could do to make our stay better. All I got was a rather rude reply when I asked about a kettle.
The so called entertainment was the worst I have seen at any resort I have visited in the past. We got the impression that most was aimed at the German community and we felt very unwelcome most of the time.
The poor entertainment forced us back to room most nights and we couldnt even watch TV as there was nothing in English, mostly German.
When we decided to walk outside the resort, well there is nothing to see, visit or look round. We had to go on excursions to make our stay more enjoyable and they cost a fortune as they were all so far away.
The wifi which you had to pay through the nose for, didn't even work outside the reception area.
We will not ever be staying in a SBH resort again. Just a shame we chose here to celebrate a mile stone birthday....
The only positives about my holiday was that I had my wife with me, we met two lovely people and the only staff member that really seemed to care was the young Scottish lass Danielle...

Secondly we thank you for have taken the time and write a review about your stay in our SBH Costa Calma Beach Resort. We would apologize that we did not live up to your expectations. Guest satisfaction is very important to us and we try everyday to fulfil their expectations.
Our housekeeping works 7 days a week to ensure the cleanliness of our hotel. They not only clean every single room but also the entire complex. Sorry we didn’t fulfil your expectations. Our maintenance team takes care of the hotel everyday too. They make sure minor faults are taken care of and if needed assist customers.
We are very proud of our choice of foods and at the same time the quality we provide to our customers. It’s a shame we couldn’t meet your taste buds. However we can assure you our chefs prepare a big choice of foods fresh on a daily basis. The pool bar offers hot drinks from 10:30 am till 06:00pm.
Our hotel director will meet and great every guest at dinner and makes sure adequate clothes are worn.
From summer 2017 we offer a premium service which includes tea and café facilities, safe, wifi, water at arrival, bath rope, beach towels and fruits at arrival. Meanwhile our reception will provide kettle to our guests as long as stock lasts for a refundable deposit.
Our entertainment offeres a variety of activities for our guests during the day as well as shows like magicians, acrobats, music quiz etc at night time. As we know we have a good mix of nationalities we cater for all of them and do not differentiate between them, we are very sorry you felt that way.
