Having stopped for a break en route from North wales, we stumbled across The Eagles Inn on a side road just yards from the main street of the town.
We were the only people there and wondered whether it was not such a good idea to have a meal here.
We couldn't have been more wrong. The host was very welcoming and friendly. He was chatty but not in your face and was very helpful and understanding when I messed up the card payment and they had to start again.
The food we ordered was fantastic and the helpings were more than we could manage and I like my food!
It's a short step from the main public car park to the Eagles Inn and you might even be able to park right outside if you're lucky. Limited street parking.
So if you ever find yourself in Rhayader and wanting a meal that will definitely fill you up, don't bother looking anywhere else but the Eagles Inn.
Five star service, food and value for money.
Highly recommended.

Pub shut at 2pm so we were too late for a meal, the inside of the pub had a strong doggy smell,we sat out side with our dogs but a dog was in a shed very agitated, made us uneasy. The land lady was friendly once we had left.

We visited the area again after 3 years for a relaxing week, as we visited the pub a few times during our last visit and were very satisfied, we went back again and feasted well , 6 of us two nights and the food was excellent, with very good sized portions, served by friendly staff.
A great no frills pub that like to please their punters, simple, to many pubs these days trying to posh themselves up, charge too much and serve sub standard food , and little of it ? full marks The Eagles inn, back again next visit.
