This little village is a 30(?) minute drive from Siena. It was a breath of fresh air after the chaos and grime in Siena. Pienza was rebuilt by Pope Pius II in the mid-1400s. It was the first city intentionally planned as an ideal Renaissance town. Well, they got it right as it has a real human and honest feel to it, but still manages to be a working city. It's beautiful and I heartily recommend that anyone who is nearby should visit.
