Description: Heinz Beck Seasons at Ristorante Castello di Fighine is less than 15 minutes from the Fabro exit off the A1. The drive will not be a disappointment. Arriving in Fighine, one is met by the beautiful and imposing 11th century Castello di Fighine, a private home which has been restored and refurbished over the past 15 years. A two minute walk from the Castello will bring you to the Ristorante Castello di Fighine. Situated 650m above sea level it offers panoramic views over Southern Tuscany from its rose and wisteria covered terraces. It really is worth a visit. Managed by Heinz Beck with Antonio Strammiello as head chef, the restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine but specialises in home-made Tuscan pasta with locally sourced ingredients. It is a most beautiful place to sit and enjoy either a simple plate of fresh pasta or a gourmet/tasting menu. To accompany the food the wine list features a number of the great Super Tuscan wines as well as other locally produced wines of excellent quality. "... And to have such a superb restaurant right opposite was my special treat. The lemon, ginger, asparagus and white prawn pasta was our family favourite. The service was so efficient, friendly and welcoming ...."

We ate in this amazing restaurant 5years ago and when we were planning our trip to Italy this year we planned our itinerary around a return visit to Castello di Fighine. It was more than worth the effort! As before, we had the tasting menus and it was brilliant. The waiter and waitress were very attentive and recommend excellent wines. We were a bit concerned at first as there was a table of 14 eating at the same. But our concerns were unfounded and the dishes arrived perfectly. The quality of the flavours was magnificent. The presentation was superb and the overall experience was, as we say in Ireland, "thar barr" - above the top! It was great that the chef came to the tables after the meals and his gentle manner was noteworthy. While the location may be remote the culinary experience was centre stage. Usually memory exaggerates but our return visit surpassed our previous experience.

My husband and I stayed at Fighine and ate at the restaurant. It's an absolutely beautiful spot in the countryside. We really came just to eat at the restaurant because of all the great reviews. I think we were the only people staying on the property which was actually pretty cool. We had an beautiful apartment to ourselves. The dinner at the restaurant was truly a fine dining experience. We did the tasting menu and were amazed with every course. The service was also amazing. They also made us a special cake to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Definitely worth the trip for an amazing meal!

In short, fantastic staff, wonderful experience on castle grounds, reasonably priced, a must-do!

We visited this gorgeous restaurant as a couple initially and loved it so much we returned with our young children. Fabio made both experiences absolutely wonderful.

Opting for the tasting menu for our first visit, we were blown away by the intricate but wide array of magical textures put together by the amazing Antonio Strammiello. Even the bread board involved new tastes for us. They accommodated pregnancy related dietary needs beautifully and subtly.

The atmosphere was just right - calm and ambient.

As a family we opted for a la carte and were not disappointed. We were offered anything we wanted for our children, two of whom were happy with the a la carte choices and one who requested pici pasta with tomato sauce. We were pleasantly surprised that the children were welcome, and given that we think they are well behaved, were happy that the restaurant were so accommodating. Luckily we visited on a Tuesday evening when it wasn’t too busy, and one diner did congratulate us on how good the children were! I must admit, I was worried that one may have a tantrum or voice their thoughts at any point but it must have been a full moon night as all three were wonderfully happy and calm!

Top tip: either get a cab to the restaurant (which is located at castle), or if you do drive, be prepared for a complete dirt track with deer and porcupines! Also don’t do what we did and miss the sign for parking (we tried driving down an extremely windy, narrow, in retrospect, dead end, only to have to reverse the whole way!)

If in the area then this is a must! We loved it and would recommend and visit again without hesitation.

You wouldn't know you would end up in such a beautiful little place when you're driving up the degraded roads leading up to the revamped castle. The restaurant is situated in one of the other buildings in the small town and boasts a sophisticated and flavour packed cuisine. We treated ourselves to the 7 course lunch and we didn't regret it one bite. Beautifully presented and all explained in very good English. The decor could do with some updating, but ultimately it's about the food and there was absolutely nothing wrong with that!

Six of us enjoyed dinner here on a family holiday. One person opted for the tasting menu while the rest of us ordered à la carte. We had a vegan with us, and they did an excellent job catering to her diet. Each of us was very happy with our dinner -- everything was beautifully cooked and with some innovative interpretations (a deconstructed zuppa anglaise?! fab!). I'd highly recommend this restaurant.
