We visited a few Vilas on lake Como, and this was our favorite. its really beautiful and well maintained, its also well staffed with friendly help, the gardens are set high, so its a little bit of a climb, but so worth it for the views. we took some really great photos here with our toddler. very memorable. this visit was the highlight of probably the best day of my life.the gift shop is very nice with sizeable selecition and helpful cheery staff.

Thank Andre L

The inside museum così così, very pleasant gardens to stroll and admire the bella posti di Como. Some the outdoor exhibits have unique and forward thinking on art. Worth it

We stayed quite close to Villa Carlotta and it was one of the first places we visited. The villa itself is very attractive and the gardens surrounding it are beautiful. We visited in June and it was lovely but one can see that it must be at its most spectacular when the azaleas are flowering. As it is, there were fine displays of hydrangeas and areas of summer bedding as well as vast green spaces. The garden is surprisingly accessible with lifts and a small funicular to take you to the higher levels. The interiors are attractive but the gardens are the real feature here!

We arrived by ferry from Bellagio, which was lovely as we could see the villa from the water as we approached. It costs 10€ each or 7€ if you’re a National Trust member, which we are. I’d remembered my card but my husband had forgotten his.
We took the longer of the three visits and had a lovely time exploring the extensive grounds. The views are spectacular, especially from the olive grove at the top. We walked down to the villa and very much enjoyed walking round; there’s an interesting old working lift, complete with banquette! On the second floor there are furnished rooms, which add to the atmosphere of this grand villa. It has a sad twist, though as Carlotta (Charlotte) died aged 23.
We finished with a walk to the cafe and a pleasant lunch in the outside terrace.
Tio - take water for the walk round the gardens. There’s nowhere to buy any, until you get back from both villa and gardens. It is sold in the cafe and shop.

Take a cool walk through these botanical gardens. Magic. The Bamboo garden just spectacular... some wonderful flowers and great plants. The paths are well maintained and walking is easy. Well worth a visit.
