The staff was very friendly and answered all of our questions. They also were great about helping us find some souvenirs that were a bit more bespoke than the items seen in all the other tour shops. They really went above and beyond in this regard.
The hotel grounds were very nice and you can tell they take pride in the surrounding garden. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and clean. The pool is modest but nice for a smallish hotel.
I really have nothing but good things to say about the hotel itself. However, I will say that I may have been a bit naive about what to expect in Nungwi. I don't know how this compares to other towns in Zanzibar, but this is an EXTREMELY poor and crowded village that is kind of landlocked by fenced off ocean-front resorts. The contrast is a bit shocking. The other thing is that even going for a small stroll along the beach is a bit of a hassle. You'll be confronted with beach hawkers essentially non-stop.More
