We just finished 6 days at Moana Surfrider - the hotel is charming and full of history, if you get a chance you must visit the history room on the second floor of the lobby, additionally there is a nice space with comfy chairs that look out to the valet up there - great quiet space for people watching!
Our room was okay, misleading on the booking website because I chose a “Diamond” ocean view room I thought I would have a direct view of Diamond Head which was not the case, my room was in the “Diamond” Tower. However, when I went to front desk for clarification they explained what happened and even have me a 1 time use key to see an upgraded room, which was beautiful, oddly shaped tho but it was a King room and we needed 2 beds. So I chose to keep our original room, the view was beautiful and we enjoyed opening the windows and hearing the waves at night. My only complaint on the rooms was the size, they’re quite tiny, and the noise in the surrounding rooms! I could hear the tv and conversations in the neighboring rooms! The shower and water pressure were nice and the beds were very comfortable! Housekeeping always did a great job! The rooms are older and could use some updating for sure, they’re not intricately cleaned by any means but unless you’re OCD like me...We just finished 6 days at Moana Surfrider - the hotel is charming and full of history, if you get a chance you must visit the history room on the second floor of the lobby, additionally there is a nice space with comfy chairs that look out to the valet up there - great quiet space for people watching!

They did let me pay an up charge for late check out - instead of 11am we were able to stay in our room until 6pm which was awesome for an 11PM flight! You can get an hour extension to 12 just by asking ;) and pay a little bit to keep the room longer! The front desk staff were all very nice and helpful anytime I went down there.
They were very accommodating with my grandmother who has a motorized scooter and cane as well. Always helped her in and out of the car, pulled her chair out for her, etc. the elevator is tiny tho, so beware if you use a wheelchair or scooter because other guest will still cram in there like sardines! If you’re claustrophobic, use the employee elevator it is much larger in size!
Now to the food & drinks - you can spend a TON of money here if you’re not careful! Most dishes are $35+ and most alcoholic drinks are $18+ USD. We spent on average $80pp per meal so it added up quickly! The food was good, they give you a healthy American portion for sure! Too much for us to eat, I wish they would have cut the serving and price in half! Would have been perfect! I’d recommend going to the surrounding shops and eating out - Dukes was really good!
Overall, the resort was great! I learned the next time I come to Oahu I am avoiding Waikiki at all costs and staying in Ko Olina instead - waaay too many people on the beach and on the streets for my liking. There was never a shortage of shopping that could be done and tons of people watching. I would recommend Moana Surfrider to a friend for sure!More
