Our family’s first time in Waikiki.
Location:
Not exactly beach front but yet, you can still have a glimpse of the ocean if you happen to get a room with an “ocean view”. We had an “ocean view” which is good enough. Location suites me as I’m a surfer. Surf board rentals at Big Wave Dave’s so it’s very handy as I get to keep my rental
board. They provide locker for storage. Pretty central to everything and walking distance to a lot of restaurants and shops.
Rooms: Big room, extra bed (sofa bed) was provided for our children. Room is cleaned every other day. Our designated floor housekeeper (she’s a filipina) is very good at detailing and always keep our room clean. Bring your important toiletries like toothbrushes as they are not provided in the amenities. Noise is blocked from the outside so it’s very good. Nothing exciting about the decor. Unlike those luxury hotels and accomodation that we have stayed in Asia.
FOOD: Happy hour is provided, complimentary drinks at the bar. Free snacks provided. Breakfast is a meh for us. Nothing exciting.
VALUE FOR MONEY: Prepare to spend a lot of money when you’re in Waikiki as it’s not cheap here. With the amount we pay for the accomodation, overall verdict is not really worth it. I guess, you only pay much because it’s near the beach and that’s about it. Inflation is really felt everywhere. Expect payingextra “resort fee” in your bill.
Overall experience in Waikiki, is still good enough. We’re from Australia, Gold Coast and we have the best beaches. And it’s free. But yet, it’s still a memorable aloha experience.
