We were told the rooms were clean and ready for check in. The rooms were dirty, the refrigerators and microwaves were filthy, the bathroom and entry floors were filthy. There were urine stains on the carpet.

We were looking forward to an upscale experience at what we thought was a more premier hotel. That's not what we found, unfortunately.
Check in was pleasant and easy. We went up to the room and found that the heat had been running at 78 degrees, probably for days, so the room was heat-soaked. It took 24 hours to really cool the room down. We found hairs in the bathroom that weren't ours. We found the AC filters clogged with dust/dirt. The wi-fi was a real issue as well. The regular Hilton Honors wi-fi was running at about 4 Mbs down and 4 Mbs. We could never get the Hilton Honors log in screen to try the premier service we were offered when we complained. After a day, we could log into it and found it was running at 12 Mbs down and about 5 Mbs up. Needless to say, streaming was difficult but it did mostly work for You Tube. For more complex streaming, like from our home DVR, it kept disconnecting and reconnecting.
Breakfast was more limited here than in any other Hampton we'd stayed in over the past 12 days. There was no dark roast coffee, no hot oatmeal, and there were no wafflesl.
Looking out the window to the section of the hotel that houses the pool, we could see that it was opened up for some construction project. We're not sure if it was open or not.
The location is very convenient to the interstate and there is plenty of parking, particularly in the rear where there is an out of business restaurant. A short drive away is the Montage Mountain shopping center where there are several restaurants (that can get to be very busy, especially on football Saturdays). Driving down the hill towards town puts you immediately in a not so nice area with no restaurants except for burgers or donuts. Checking on the internet, we found that some chain restaurants can be up to 15 miles away.
Masks were sometimes worn, sometimes not.
We were told that this Hampton is corporately owned as compared to franchise- owned Hampton hotels. It appears that corporate should certainly learn some lessons from the franchise owners.
As it currently stands, we would likely avoid this Hampton if we happened to be in the area once again.

Room tip: east facing rooms look over some hills, west faces the highway

Thank you for taking the time to review our property, we are saddened to hear that our property didn't live up to your expectations. We are an older Hampton Inn that has been a staple on Montage Mountain for nearly 30 years. Montage Mountain is an incredibly safe area with multiple businesses and a housing development. The Shoppes at Montage which is less than a mile away with multiple upscale and chain restaurants. We recently upgraded our internet which is the Hilton standard in all properties, we provide the standard and upgraded 3x faster service. We are currently offering all the breakfast items offered by our suppliers and the new Hilton brand standards. We offer a daily meat and egg item, 4 choices of oatmeal, apples, bananas, 2 types of muffins, bagels, 2 choices of bread, and four types of cereals for our guests to enjoy and start their day with. Waffles will be back very soon as we are working with suppliers creating the inventory needed. We currently offer more breakfast choices than all the other 9 hotels in Scranton.

We tend to stay at the Hilton properties because of their higher standards. We were not disappointed here. We were driving from Vermont to Maryland and laid over in Scranton. This hotel is right on I-81, so it couldn't have been more convenient. The room was clean and updated. I couldn't connect to wi-fi, so I enlisted help from the front desk. The evening lady there took my tablet and worked relentlessly to connect me to the wi-fi (above and beyond the call of duty). She found a block on my tablet that disallowed me to access the wi-fi. But, she unlocked it and all was good. Very friendly staff. Recommend. I must interject that $200.00 (tax included) for one night is a bit steep. We're seeing sizable jumps in the Hilton hotel costs compared to others we have checked.

Great hotel with excellent room walls that block noises from other rooms. Nothing to complain. Except that rooms and bathrooms are little congested ( May be it’s because I took two queen bed room).. everything is good. Nice staff

Staff were very nice. However, the first room we were given had dirt of some kind on the walls and bedspread and the sheets were clean but stained. They switched our room to one without those issues but the toilet gurgled all night. They did significantly decrease the price which we appreciated as it definitely wasn’t worth the original cost. Not up to Hampton Inn’s usual quality although again the staff were great.
