For our purposes this hotel was very good because of its convenience to Balloon Fiesta and nicer hotels in the area were either booked or even more overpriced than this one was.

The hotel is about 10 minutes by car from Fiesta Park although it can take a lot longer to get there depending on Balloon Fiesta traffic. But proximity to the park is important because people start arriving at the park by 4 a.m. in order to get a decent parking space. Also, you have to leave the park in between the morning and afternoon sessions so it was nice to be able to go back to the room and rest in between the sessions. And you can see the Fiesta fireworks at night if you are too tired to make it through until the evening.

As for the hotel itself, it is located in an odd area in between a fence and a gas station so it is a little tricky to find the entrance. And obviously the outside of the hotel is not very aesthetically pleasing. It is, again without traffic, within a 10 minute drive to various restaurants and stores. But apart from the gas station nothing is in safe walking distance from the hotel.

As to safety, Albuquerque is a very unsafe city-vehicles and other belongings are often stolen from hotel parking lots. So we appreciated the extra security at the hotel although, after speaking with the officers, I realized that the extra security was directly related to the Fiesta. There was a man trespassing on the property while we were there who was arrested after he accosted a hotel employee but that is nothing unusual in Albuquerque, no guests were in danger, and I personally did not feel threatened or in any danger while staying at the hotel.

Our room was comfortably spacious as were the queen-sized beds although the mattresses were too soft. The bathroom was a decent size and it was clean and in good condition as was the room although the air conditioner did not adequately cool the room. We opted for no housekeeping arrives while we were there in exchange for extra Choice rewards points.

The breakfast food was standard Choice Hotel fare. What I really appreciated, though, was that the staff provided to- go breakfast bags containing a muffin and a piece of fruit that were available by 4 a.m. along with coffee and juice. And hot food was available by 5 a. m. So Fiesta goers could eat and still leave on time.

The hotel was extremely quiet by 9 p. m. both nights, Friday and Saturday, that we were there. But what really made the hotel enjoyable was the dynamic duo of Reggie and Travis, the two men manning the front desk and generally keeping everything at the hotel under control. Despite the onslaught of Fiesta goers, Reggie and Travis remained calm and were very patient, welcoming and helpful.

In general, we would not have stayed at this hotel if we were not going to Balloon Fiesta because there are a lot of other hotels in Albuquerque closer to the University of New Mexico and its hospital, and Old Town as well as Uptown. And we would have not stayed at this hotel if some of the other nearby hotels were not, as previously noted, overbooked or more expensive. But overall we had no real complaints, if necessary we would stay there again, and with the help of Reggie and Travis we had a great first Balloon Fiesta experience!

Thank you for your gracious review and mentioning both Reggie and Travis. It is obvious that they do everything they can to make our guests comfortable and happy during their stay. Unfortunately, Albuquerque currently has a high crime rate and we do try to be proactive with our guests by informing them that anywhere they might be in the city, to not leave anything visible in their vehicle. This seems to really have helped our guests and they appreciate it. Being just a mile from the Balloon Fiesta Park is a great location and we are happy you were able to enjoy the balloons during your visit. We hope to see you again.

We stayed here for a week long golf event and were very pleased with this property.
Rooms were very nice - comfortable beds, nice sitting area in the suites, and everything very clean. Breakfast was good - lots of variety and nice dining area.
All the staff that we met were VERY friendly - eager to answer questions - and very professional and pleasant.
Also enjoyed the free shuttle to the Sandia Casino.
We were especially impressed with Monica, Adela, and Pilar. They are exceptional.

We stayed on a trip with a pickup and enclosed 17' trailer. Getting in the lot and parking was pretty tight. We parked along the dumpster across 5 stalls. Hotel is nice, comfortable, breakfast was good. Pet friendly.
