Typically I'm a small hotel type of person and not particularly brand loyal. But this first time pick seemed to have what we were looking for in a resort stay: quick beach access and fitness options. We got that and so much more.
The staff is a real stand out. The management there must be the Marriott's A TEAM as the staff we encountered time after time went out of their way to enhance our stay. Genuine pride in their job was contagious.

A few tips for those thinking about booking:
If you a free view of the three times a week Luau entertainment, book into building "Hale" 7, garden facing. 2nd or 3rd floor would give you a perfect sight line. If you'd rather have a quieter stay, avoid building 7.

If it's in your budget, ground floor ocean front is AMAZING and well worth it. In and out access across the grass rather than inside through a hall way changed our daily routine and enhanced our stay greatly. Beautiful views, too. Building 2 is closest to the water and a 4 minute walk to Ulua Beach for snorkeling and boogie boarding.

The fitness center is a good size and well appointed, complete with a few Peloton bikes and the usual ellipticles, treadmills and weights. Good selection of foam rollers and mats, too. 2-3 classes are offered each day and, in general, are well taught. While the classes first meet by reception, they ultimately take place outside on a water side grassy knoll. Great way to start the day. Big shout out to Katie, who was excellent.

Pool side food and beverage and service is excellent as many have noted. Yes, expensive but that's to be expected.

The one slight disappointment was the bike usage. They're promoted at check in for guest use. When we went to check them out from Dave, the vacation club guy, we were greeted with a rather hostel "are you paying the resort fee??" Whaaa? uh yeah, of course we are....we're guests. "well..some people don't pay it and so they have to pay for the bikes...anyway...you only get the bike for an hour otherwise you have to pay $25/hour." Wow wow wow. I just wanted to ride a bike for half an hour. Turns out the bike was in need of repair; the gears didn't work. Would love to see them get better bikes and make the process for using them easier and more welcoming.

Great trip. Stay here.

Room Tip: "Ocean Front Ground Floor" in buildings 2, 3 6 and 7 are the best rooms.

After changing rooms 3 times, we finally got a real oceanfront room! It was amazing. Front Desk was very helpful in finally getting us a suitable room. The only downside to this resort is stairs. Rooms have been updated and are spacious. Restaurants onsite are very good. It's nice to have a Starbucks on site. Resort is within walking distance to the Shops at Wailea. Beachwalk is right by the rooms. Grounds are meticulously maintained. Loved the open-air lobby, rockers and seating with ocean and lawn views. Drivers will take you to the restaurants at neighboring resorts which is great. Pools and waterpark are great. Parking and resort fees add up but we would probably stay here again.

This was our fifth visit to the Wailea Marriott with our family.
First, it is smaller and more customer oriented than the mega hotels that neighbor it. The Grand Wailea and the Fairmont could be any hotel anywhere. They are just too large for us and seem to cater to the convention crowd.
Second, the staff is excellent. A major reason is the length of service. Wendy in customer service handles every issue and has been for years. Terrance at check-in has been there forever. I asked the bell person how long he has been there and he replied 26 years! These folks are experienced and proven professionals, not someone who showed up last week.
Third, they have upgraded the food service. Roy’s has taken over the main restaurant and it was excellent. The breakfast buffet was wonderful.
Fourth, you can take a short walk to the adjoining Shops at Wailea center. This retail center offers restaurants, high to low end shops, including the ever present ABC store! The center also has a market that has everything you will ever need.
Fifth, about a year ago they redid all the pools. The kid’s pool is great. While it may not be as big as the Grand Wailea, you don’t have to worry that your younger children getting run over. The adult pool is quite, pristine, and offers every service you might want at the pool.
The Marriott is just a nice, quiet resort that looks like it belongs on Maui, not Las Vegas.

We struggled to decide on which resort to stay In Wailea and opted for the Marriott as we have Elite Status with them and on the whole are very loyal. It was a close call as we also considered the Andaz. I think we made the right choice. The layout of the resort makes for a lovely atmosphere with well maintained gardens and peaceful areas to sit and admire the stunning ocean views and the spectacular sunsets.
The pool areas are busy, but well though out and the Serenity Adult Pool is the star of the show......absolutely delightful. Our room had a side Ocean View and overlooked the adult pool so was quiet and convenient. The recent renovations have been done well and the room was clean comfortable and contemporary with a great shower and the most comfortable bed I have slept in for some time.
The food around the pool and in Kapa was good and priced competitively with speedy friendly service.
We ate as the Humble Market Kitchin each day for breakfast as it was included in our room rate but at $33 per person would not have thought it good value if we had not paid in the room rate. The food was nice but not $33 nice! The service at breakfast was friendly but complete chaos. Tables left uncleared for ages while we waited 20 minutes to get a seat. Three lovely friendly hostesses but clearly not enough servers meant long waits for coffee and other drinks. If only they had used their initiative and cleared a few tables it would have been a much smoother operation instead of wandering around with an IPAD.
Evening meals in the same restaurant were very nice and with attentive service.
Looking forward to a return visit very soon as we loved the resort and relaxing atmosphere.
The kids pool is great and has a wonderful Water Slide area (ok for adults too) and the beaches are a short walk away but a nice walk. We were lucky to see Turtles from the beach which was a real bonus.
One thing that has left me bemused is that no food charges have been awarded Marriott Rewards Points and nothing had been mentioned about that anywhere. It is discussed on other review sites though but this seems a bit strange. Might make me reconsider eating at the hotel next time.

This hotel has recently undergone a remodel and construction of an additional “adventure pool” which brings the number of the pools to six or seven. It is a beautiful big resort situated between two great beaches...none in front. Great for snorkeling with the turtles! Our favorite is the”Serenity” adults only pool. The addition of many umbrellas was very welcome. As we are from FL, we know how dangerous it is to get too much sun. So many go home looking like lobsters. One bout with skin cancer gives one a reality check. Definitely not worth it!
Of course there are always some people who don’t read the rules. Our problem is with those who loudly use their phones even though they are prohibited. The worst are the guys who put them on speaker and then pace up and down while trying to do business! Second are those who drink too much and get louder as the drinks add up. A little quiet reminder of the rules to the guys with the phones would be great. Drinkers are the hotel’s bread and butter...so that has to be laughed off. They do get kind of entertaining!
As you can guess, we like peace and quiet. We opted for a quiet room and got 4423 which was perfect. (Hale 4). We did not need a view as we have ocean front time shares for the next 3 weeks. This was great to recover from the 18 hours it took to get here.
The new bar down below had wonderful chicken lettuce wraps and fish tacos. Those pared with their requisite island beers or maitai’ s or pina coladas makes for a perfect bite to eat while watching the sun set.
All in all it was a perfect 5 days in paradise! Can’t praise the Wailea Marriott enough.
