We've just had an amazing 2 week holiday at Le Dune (part of the locally Sardinian based Delphina hotel group). We booked with operator Sardatur.
It was great to be in a truly Sardinian resort where the majority of guests were Italians and then French holidaying. Our kids made friends with about 6 English families and had lots of fun. We enjoyed trying our very poor Italian and found most staff happily tried English and some especially in the receptions were fluent in several languages including English. The staff were always friendly. Our kids loved the entertainment and kids clubs but most of all the evening shows by the 'All Crazy' team. The resort is a kids paradise and they loved the bouncy castles, zip wire, go karts, trampolines etc after dinner. I quite liked the cocktails at the bars.
Our family room in the ginepri hotel was spacious and clean with fresh room and beach towels. Our kids comfortably slept in the made up beds in the living area and we had a separate bedroom. We had a lovely balcony too. The shower was fab.
The resort does take a few days to get your head around as it's quite big and there is so much to do and with no additional cost. Our 10 year old had free archery, catamaran and windsurfing lessons, tried out scuba, played tennis and just outside the complex enjoyed horseriding (for a reasonable charge).
The food in the many restaurants was superb - the best we've ever had. Reception advised us to book the restaurants on the day of arrival for the two weeks so we got to eat in all of them we wanted (you can change bookings). We loved Spiaggia restaurant on the beachfront which had amazing seafood and sunsets which look photoshopped but are real! Pomodoro restaurant was a real treat and the manager and chef went out of their way to provide vegan food for one of our group. In fact every restaurant we went to, went out of their way to meet dietary requirements. For instance there were 6 flavours of non dairy ice cream at the ice cream shop on the central piazza of the resort.
The beach was lovely and the sea super clear and whilst sometimes we happily walked the 5 mins to the beach from our room the kids loved taking the frequent golf buggies which took just a minute.
We used 3 of the swimming pools on the resort and found ginepri best for young almost swimming kids as had a larger shallow end and le Palme for confident swimmers but both were very deep in places. The surface around the poolside was quite rough which prevented slips but caused the odd ouch.
We were fortunate to use the spa which was divine!
We visited nearby pretty Isola Rossa (just 15 mins away) and stunning Castlesardo (30mins) by taxi. The taxis booked through the hotel were pricey but excellent quality with friendly drivers and on time for stress free enjoyable day trips.
Out of the whole holiday one minor improvement would be to increase the menu options at lunchtime for those on half board as it was quite limited - although of super quality.
Based on our holiday we'd love to try other hotels in the Delphina group in the future.

I have been traveling all over the world for last 25 years. By far it was the worst experience I ever had. The location the service the staff is below any expectations for the price paid. Advertised as full board/all inclusive option but none of the bars and half of the restaurants are in fact not included. When you call to make a reservation they tell you they are full but in fact they all half empty and staff doing NOTHING. One night when we have been told that restaurants have no seats we went there and it was half empty. When I nicely asked to be seated they refused but when I raised my voice and said I am staying they OKed it. For next hour place remained half empty.
Nobody speaks English but front desk. All offices are only open 2-3 hours during the day and the hours are very not comfortable. In order to go to the beach you have to cross the road. You can not get anything on the beach no towels no water no drinks NOTHING. If you want to drink you have to go to the bar across the street and buy overpriced water. The showers on the beach are dirty and old. Staff is completely disoriented and unprofessional. The front desk at SPA when asked for the working hours spent 10 minutes to find it on line-what I hell are you doing there if you do not even know your working hours. When asked for a courtesy of a late check out ( just 2 more hours ) we have been told to pay for the half day even though we reported multiple issue during our stay and hotel was half empty. Please stay as far as you can from this place unless you in love with mediocrity and very low service standards for enormous amount paid

Dear Guest,
we always welcome comments fron our guests, whether they are expressed on site or through internet reviews.
Not only we welcome them, we hear them so to improve quality and services. In the case of your review, we have to remark a few inaccurate information that risk to mislead other Tripadvisor users.
There is a difference between Full Board and All Inclusive. We are not (and we do not advertise as such) an all-inclusive resort. Therefore, some extras are not included, such as bar and minibar.
Concerning restaurants, 5 restaurants out of 9 do not require supplement and include water and wine.
We believe that those 5 restaurants make already a good selection that can be enhanced by trying one or two among those withsupplement (between 10 and 12 euro).
Since you stayed at Le Dune on the second week of August, we find it hard to believe that the restaurants were empty. Be assured that the resort was fully booked. What happened is that tables were reserved and guests were not arrived yet. You thought that tables were available, but they were just not occupied yet. This has been explained to you at the restaurant and at your departure. I would like to remark that nobody refused a table to you even when you were booked in another restaurant and changed your mind last minute. This happened several times.
About the English language, your comment is truly unacceptable. Please take your time to read through all other reviews in search of a similar remark.
Almost but not all shops and services are closed at lunch time and early afternoon. They are open in the morning and from 5/6 pm until late at night.
Beach towels are in each room and they are changed regularly or at any request. A bottle of water and season fruits are offered free of charge at the beach reception.
The street between the resort and the beach is a narrow dead-end-street giving access to the resort, with humps before and after the beach antrance and very limited traffic.
We do not believe that a large bottle of water is overpriced at 3 euro.
Of the 3 rooms you had booked we offered to keep one as courtesy room, free of charge, in spite of the fact that it was August 15th and we were expecting a lot of guests arriving to start their holidays, also in the rooms you were occupying. If you remember I also told you that some guests had already arrived. This was a kind gesture from the management and not a right as you told us. Your right was to keep the room up to qo:30 am.
All in all, we are sad to read inaccurate information that are the display of many other users. Throughout your stay we have tried to satisfied your many requests granting many exceptions to our standard services. Usually your requests and remarks were expressed in the loudest possible way at restaurants and receptions making other guests turning and disturbing them. We had to apologize to them. It seemed that all our efforts were taken for granted and therefore not appreciated.
Some travelers prefer a more tailor-made service or a more pretentious environment. We apologize that was not your experience and we sincerely hope that on your next visit to the Resort Le Dune, services, staff and amenities exceed your every expectation.
Sincerely

Calogero Spinella,
General Manager Resort Le Dune & SPA

The resort consists of several hotels, we stayed at I Ginepri in a spacious family room with balcony.
The room was absolutely clean, fresh towels and beach towels every day, superfriendly staff. Shuttle service to the beach, although it would have been a couple minutes walk only, but with many small kids around the shuttle was well used, but never had to wait more than 5 minutes. I would go back any time. The food in all resort hotels was fabulous. We had half board and never regretted it. Different pools to choose from, really great location. The only thing was that dinner starts at 7:30 which was a bit late for our children. Mostly Italian and French guests, a few German, all quite chique so don't forget your high heels and the jacadi dresses for the girls:-)

We booked here on a Thomson Package deal and very a bit sceptical having travelled independently for the last few years. We were not disappointed. This hotel is a large complex of 5 hotels we stayed in I Ginepri. We had a lovely, spacious 2nd floor villa - separate bedroom for adults and the kids slept in the lounge area. Room fully equipped with mini bar ( reasonable prices) TV, spacious double sinked bathroom with large shower. We had a lovely balcony with table and chairs. Very good air con which was much needed in the Sardinian heat. Rooms cleaned daily and towels changed. We didn't venture much from the resort as just wanted a relaxing holiday - we used the hotel shuttle bus one day to go to Badesi to get some supplies from the supermarket. There is not much there 1 hour is enough. There is a massive choice of restaurants - some have supplements which we avoided as the inclusive restaurants were very high standard. So much choice of food everything cooked to perfection. Our favourite was the beach restaurant as you were able to watch the sunset whilst eating dinner. Breakfast was equally as good where you were able to have freshly made omelettes and gateau if you wanted it - 5 different types of croissants. Local wine was included in the restaurants which was pleasant enough. There were 4 pools that we could use we tended to go to the Palme as this was where our children enjoyed the most. There were plenty of sunbeds and no silly reserving at 6am in the morning - turn up at 11am and still plenty of choice. The beach is private and very beautiful and clean we only went once as the waves were really big and felt nervous about the children swimming in there. The entertainment at night is of a high standard - really good vocalists and bands. I would say our only negative comment about the holiday was that service could be slow in the main bar at night and at the Le Palme pool bar - often having to go to the bar itself to get served quicker. This is just a small point and could be easily rectified with additional staff. The staff in general very friendly and attentive. Beach towels were provided which we didn't know and could have saved on packing! Would book again in a flash.

Room tip: I would ask for an upstairs Villa to get a good outlook.

Sardinia is an easy 1 hour 50 minute flight from Heathrow and Badesi Mare is a beautiful part of Sardinia to visit, the beach is clean and easily accessible with crystal clear water and the weather during our stay was excellent (33 degrees C). On paper, Resort & Spa Le Dune should be excellent but there are some aspects which are slightly disappointing. We stayed in the 'La Rocce' area of the resort in inter-connecting rooms. Unfortunately, the rooms got very little natural light so were quite dark; although for the majority of the day you're not in the room so many people will find this less of an issue. Many members of staff spoke excellent English but some 'front of house' staff were less well versed. Any owners of American Express might be disappointed as the staff need to use a 'special' card machine which tends to be on a bottom shelf or still in its cardboard box. Whilst we only ate in the restaurants which required no additional supplement to be paid, the food was poor in a couple of these restaurants (under-cooked pasta (and I mean a long way under cooked from 'al dente'), tasteless and fatty pizzas and what appeared to be a large section of vein/artery in a beef dish), while the food was only average in the others. More bizarre and annoying was the requirement to book tables for dinner for the whole holiday almost as soon as we arrived and before we'd experienced any of the restaurants. We were also disappointed to find that the resort offered no shop in which to buy bottled water, leaving you either to the cost of the bar/room minibar or the 3 km walk up the hill to Badesi. The availability of inclusive activities however was excellent - including multi-lingual windsurfing tuition with Jorge - although information on some of the activities from the hotel staff was incorrect.
