We ate twice here and had really good meals each evening.Food very good and well presented.Nibbles were brought out while you were waiting for meal and owner came out for friendly chat. You would need to book as very busy, local people and visitors.

This was one of the few restaurants we found in Douarnenez open in November (both lunchtime and evening). The food was really good, and the service was pleasant. It is located in the town centre, and the Spanish-themed décor is amazing!

When we first entered the restaurant, we had a very bad feeling about it but we ignored our instincts as it was already late and we were starving. BAD IDEA!
Paella was disgusting - bland, the seafood and meat weren't even fresh and had a bad aftertaste (we think it was from the fake saffron).
They were cheeky with the bill as well. We specifically ordered paella for 1 person but they prepared for 2 people and charged us for it at the end, saying they thought it was 1 paella per person. We left feeling depressed and ripped off.

If you don't like Seafood, and don't like a 'kitchy' Decor, this is not the place for you!
We went an evening during the week.
Had the Paella Seafood for 2, Loved it! Everything was fresh, and made to order.
Also loved the marinated olives we were given for the apero.
As for the Paella, there was plenty of it, so much that we, full as we were,
could not even order a dessert or a coffee ! (which is rare for us foodies)
As for the colourful Decor, I guess, it is like Marmite, you either love it, or you hate it. Needless to say, we loved it!
Yes, it is full, cluttered, and kinda kitch, but also colourful, cheerful, and it brings a smile to your face, as everywhere you look, there's something to see.
You won't get bored eating at L'Athenor, that's for sure.
Staff was friendly, though quiet, and a bit distant/reserved.
Also liked the Spanish gypsy music, which created a great ambiance.
Felt like we were in sunny Spain!
A lovely & tasty experience to repeat !
