Since being told that jackets are required for men, we got all dressed up. When we got there they paraded us past the first floor all the way up to the top floor, where there were many men not in jackets, in fact, wearing golf shirts. I would think having respected their dress code, we would have been equally respected by getting a good table, especially since I had made the reservation 4 months in advance.

The service was very good, but it was like eating at a banquet hall. There’s so many people there that the food just seems mass produced, it was good, but not great. Having eaten at some of the best restaurants in NY, and all over the world, there is a high bar to match. Commanders Palace did not meet that bar.

This restaurant appears to take their business seriously, from the adequate staff and excellent service to the good food. It was also highly recommended by friends who have visited New Orleans. The soups are delicious and tastes like it was meticulously prepared with the best ingredients. The “25 cents martinis” is an exciting idea, limit 3. This restaurant has been around for decades, they know exactly what they are doing. Two thumbs up.

We booked our reservation weeks ago based on the fabulous reviews, but we must have caught this iconic restaurant on a bad night. Perhaps because our 8:30 booking was late and we got the leftovers, the gumbo was a brown sludge. Then we waited until after 10-10:15pm before the entrees were delivered, all of which were cold. The atmosphere is beautiful, romantic and elegant. From the reviews, we must have just had one of those random nights when the kitchen was not at their best. But, with that said...for the money and the hype, it was still pretty disappointing.

If you are celebrating a special occasion, this is the place to go! The food is the best in New Orleans and the staff and entertainment during Sunday Brunch was exceptional! We had so much fun celebrating our daughter's graduation and everyone went out of their way to make her feel special!!!

I heard from YouTube and others to go here for lunch. Of course for the 25 cent martinis but for the excellent food. It did not disappoint. The presentation, the value, the quality were unmatched. The turtle soup was presented with a separate top of sherry. Added the right flavor to it. I believe I had the oyster salad with a great value with the two course meal. This is a must visit when you are in NOLA.
