I couldn't rate Alam Sari high enough. What a beautiful place along with the most lovely staff

My friends and I enjoyed a very tranquil stay here, taking full use of the messages, pool area and lovely food.

One of my favourite nights was going to a cooking class (arranged by Alam Sari) where we were lucky enough to go to the wonderful Dewa and Jeri's home in the village nearby. We had the most amazing food, as well as an incredible experience. They fully welcomed us into their home and I was in my element cooking delicious food! That was possibly my favourite night of the whole holiday to Bali.

A staff member (arranged with Alam Sari) took us to the traditional local village, where the locals were busy preparing for a mass cremation ceremony. We also went around the grounds of the hotel to see all the organic food and herbs they grow.
I would definitely go in the electric bike tour they arrange too, absolutely amazing riding through the rice paddies!

I really enjoyed my stay here. It was really relaxing and you really feel as though you're in the middle of he jungle (minus a few cars driving by).

A lovely, lovely stay. Thank you.

We stayed in a room named "Ganesh II" in a villa with 2 bedrooms and a TV room. Outside the villa we had the use of a private plunge pool and a lounge area. The gardens in the surrounding area were stunning. This villa and a number of other rooms, which shared a thoughtfully decorated lounge and kitchen area, were located further up the hill and I recommend them. To use the swimming pool, restaurant and spa, and to visit reception, we descended via pathways and steps, again through beautifully landscaped gardens to a lower level. We made use of the free transport to and from Ubud and a free guided tour of the resort's organic garden, local rice fields and a local artist's house, both of which we enjoyed. We also had relaxing massages in the spa. The staff were polite, caring and helpful. The restaurant served a variety of meals to suit different tastes and appetites and there was a different special local dish available each day. We spent a very enjoyable and relaxing week at Alam Sari and would like to thank the staff and management for a wonderful break.

Room Tip: Book one of the villas or master bedrooms further up the hill where you will not hear the traffic no...

It is located 20-25 minutes drive from Ubud Palace, on the slope of the Kelusa village, Ubud. To reach to the lobby will need to climb up by the stairs. The staffs received us really well, the nature surrounds are beautifully arranged with green tall plants. But I wouldn't say it is a quiet area as it is near the main road.
The breakfast in the morning is always something that our family look forward, unfortunately the variety and quality of the dishes need more improvement. The omelette can be cooked in a few different ways with some vegetables etc, not only sunny side up or fried. However, our 2 kids had a lot of fun spending the day in the Swimming pool. We also had some massages in the Spa, the staffs treated us respectfully. But we've noticed that the music is too loud to our liking, the way the massage is ended is too abrupt for us....maybe if we are allowed to relax and drink traditional hot jamu/ginger should be better.
In one evening dinner, we ordered the dishes prepared by the Chef. I happened to order Tenderloin beef which they also going to feature on New Year Dinner with the guests. I was shocked that the beef is barely edible even it is cooked. It is hard to chew, cut and swallowed. The side dishes which contained the vegetables are good.
The walk around the village and organic garden are good. The staff was kind and sharing the culture and beliefs of Balinese.
We also would like to point out that the shampoo and conditioner containers which made of out ceramic may not be ideal. It slipped into the slippery fingers of our boy and it is broken to pieces in the bathroom.
Overall, our stay was good, the staffs are friendly and willing to help but hopefully there are improvement on the equipments and facilities also the quality of works of the staffs.

This hotel is not suitable for families. No kids menu, no kids activities, nothing for young people.
Restaurant is expensive, tours are expensive and service is not customer friendly, not listening or taking care of customers' needs or wishes.

Dear Nicolas,

Greetings from Alam Sari...

We were sorry to hear about the shortcomings of your stay with us recently as it is very important to us that all our guests and especially families enjoy their time with us and get a chance to taste the true essence of Balinese culture.

It appears some of the issues may have come from miscommunications about our offerings as we are quite proud to offer a wide selection of activities and accommodations for children and families that previous reviewers have commended us for.
In particular, our pool facilities, Balinese painting courses in the local village and provision of child-friendly tours ranging from whitewater rafting to elephant riding offer a world of interesting activities for children. We apologize if our family offerings were not demonstrated to you as clearly as they should have been.

In terms of tour and food cost, we conscientiously set our rates to match competitors offering similar services. While it may be possible to find tours and meals for lower prices in and around Ubud, we truly believe that the quality of service and meal ingredients are of the upmost importance for our guests and our prices are intended to reflect the level of care and quality that we bake into our offerings. We were sorry to hear that you did not see the children's menu as this is something that we do, indeed, offer.

Apologies again for the shortcomings you experience and hope you might still consider returning to Alam Sari so that we might have the opportunity to share some of the hidden treasures of Balinese culture that we can bring both new and veteran visitors to the island.

Best regards,

I stayed here for 2 night with my family, husband and my two teenager. I just surprised the location is too far from Ubud. Be careful when you select hotel online.
The location is too suburb, and the hotel did not have lobby and main entrance, you have to climb to reach lobby. Do not have enough parking lot, no TV in the room. Breakfast is not buffet...
The view is just average... no padi view

Dear Diansa56,

Warmest greeting from Alam Sari...

Thank you for taking the time to write a review for Alam Sari. Our whole team work extremely hard to deliver a fantastic product with outstanding service on our beautiful island.
First of all, we are very sorry that we did not live up to your expectations
and that you did not have a wonderful holiday with us. Guest
satisfaction is always our priority and we do work incredibly hard to
make sure that each and every guests is treated with care and we aim to
provide a wonderful experience for everyone at our Hotel. We were particularly saddened to read your comments therefore your comments leave us a little confused , we actually have the lobby and main entrance, but we are very sorry if you found some things are not properly for you.
If you felt there was anything missing during your stay you only had to
request and we would have ensured that your wishes were taken care of. We only wish that you had approached us directly to let us know about how
unhappy you were before you checked out so we would have had a chance to
rectify some of your issues. We would prefer our guests to let us
know if there is anything required during their stay so than we can fix
any issues immediately rather then just write a negative review. Having discussed all issues with our team they were very saddened, as they were under the impression that you and your family were happy during the stay by gave us some tips before you leave us. We are a small family run the Hotel and we work incredibly hard with our team to ensure good service. We do however recognize that no matter how hard we try it is not possible to please everyone all the time.

Once again we are very sorry that Alam Sari was not the right choice for you but as
you can see the vast majority of our guests are truly satisfied as we
have read in their reviews.

Most Sincerely.
