Once inside this lovely small eatery, it’s easy to forget you’re on the upper west side of Manhattan and imagine you are in a small French village. I had an artichoke appetizer and roast duck. It was all so filling that I took some of my duck home and had a delicious lunch the next day.

This restaurant has been a neighborhood destination for date night and family celebrations for many years. It's small, noisy and every staff member knows what they are supposed to do in providing great service without making it appear hard to do. The food and wine take you back to the shores of small french villages in the 80's with hardy french dishes that have disappeared from most upscale restaurant menus. The cost of the meal is in keeping with the quality of food and service.

In this local French restaurant (in the middle of a residential area) you will first feel you are back in France and then the warmest welcome from the entire staff although you have never eaten at this place before. The menu covers all that you would ever want and the service is warm and attentive. It is the first restaurant I have to in years that pours a glass of wine that is worthy of the charge/cost. Before we finished dinner (in the middle of desert) we were making plans to return next week. The menu is extensive and take your time in deciding what you would like from an array of choices..in fact the waitress (whose name I will not reveal --want to save her for ourselves) brought the wine and said take your time--no rush. And every table was occupied.

This long-time French restaurant is still packed on weekends with returning diners. The reason is that its traditional French fare isn't available much anymore -- and its execution is reliably consistent.

Whenever we go away on vacation, the first place we want to eat when we come back home is this restaurant! Always consistent and traditional and delicious food, elegant yet comforting. We have had many special event celebrations here, date nights, and also family Sunday brunches. Day or night, always charming and delightful service that makes you feel so welcome and comfortable - this is their family business and they take tremendous pride in it. They do whatever they can to accommodate people, adjusting the dish size or composition, gluten/vegan etc where possible. They know their regulars - who likes to sit where, who likes which server and which dishes or drinks etc. But they love to meet new people and will make you feel like a regular before you leave the first time. Watching how the landscape changes with restaurants in NYC, I pray that this gem keeps going for many many many more years!
