Great noisy busy restaurant in Harlem. Please order one of the chicken dishes - for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The down-home sides are fresh and tasty.

After being told a wait of an hour or less at 5:00 which is 30 min after they open, we waited until 6:45 to be seated. Water refills were few and far between despite having two kids and myself only drinking water. After my order was no longer available, I asked for just grilled chicken and vegetables because everything else had heavy sauces and was told they can’t do that. So I ate an appetizer of cauliflower for dinner which was undercooked and not much flavor. The mussels appetizer was excellent. My son clearly ordered a burger with nothing but cheese on it and was served a burger with all the veggies on it so we had to send it back. My other son loved his jerk chicken and when the burger was served as ordered it was very good. I would not recommend here for anyone other than a fried food heavy sauce eater who doesn’t mind slow inattentive service

En route to the Bronx for a ball game we stopped in Harlem for an early dinner. Even at 2:30 in the afternoon we needed reservations at this busy spot. If you find yourself in Harlem it is well worth visiting. The lunch menu offered both a la crate options as well as a prix fixe lunch menu for $29. Since we had lunch only a couple hours ago I didn’t think I could have a three course meal. I was torn between the Oh Boy! Cauliflower which was a miso glazed cauliflower and the Mr. Bojangles Lobster Roll. Thankfully I was with my sis who is my favourite person to share food with so we ordered both and shared. Both were fantastic! I especially loved that the lobster rolls were sliders and had a pickle and old bay potato chips in each one and the fries were fantastic. The only thing not so fantastic about this place was our unenthusiastic and unfriendly server. He did greet us with “it’s really nice to have you here” but I’m quite certain he didn’t mean it.

Well, what a place! It was our anniversary and the last night of our trip to NYC. Our heads are not easily turned however - we seek out the genuine, we're from Liverpool - but this place had our heads spinning. From the guys sitting outside to the staff serving inside we were made so welcome. Thanks Annalise for looking after us so well, even seeking out the Catfish recipe. Above and beyond. And as for the music - well, it was what I was looking for. Huge thanks to Peter Wayne and especially the wonderful Alyson Williams for the best music, jazz, soul, rnb, old school. It just finished far too soon. Can't wait to come back and in the meantime we are off to the London version in June xxx
