We had a lovely stay at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay. Was staying for our anniversary. Special shout out to Jennifer Vieira, Director of Operations. she reached out to me personally before I even got there. She made us feel very welcome and sent up a bottle of Champagne and a nice plate for us to enjoy. We were given a corner room with a wonderful view of the fireworks at Sea world. we stayed over memorial day weekend so it was crazy crowded, but we found little corners where we could be by ourselves. I don't think 1 other person could have gone into the spa, though. That was a sight to behold. totally, sardine central, but that's not the hotel's fault.

Overall my stay was good. I did have a toilet overflow from work being done on a neighboring room. This overflow took over two hours for staff to address after three calls to the lobby. I was not impressed with that, but otherwise the room was nice. The bed was comfortable and the balcony was a great way to enjoy the day while working.

The Hyatt Regency at Mission Bay is in a great location for San Diego sightseeing. The hotel is out of town in a scenic location, but the major sights are easily accessible. Although the hotel and rooms are a little dated, the hospitality of the staff more than makes up for that. The Red Marlin restaurant, with views of the marina, is an enjoyable place for breakfast and dinner.

Holy cow... $38 for parking! There's plenty on the street but the city government is in cahoots with the hotel because there's no parking between 2 and 4 am. What?!? Ridiculous. The resort fee is like $32 a night. Scam. The pools are better than average but the hotel is basically a Howard Johnson from circa 1974 that's been upgraded but it's still not glamorous at all for the cost. The location isn't even great because you can't walk anywhere. The breakfast that was "included" had so many built in "room service" fee (wasn't room service) and extra taxes that we didn't use it after the first day.

We are big fans of Hyatt Regency hotels but this hotel is not worthy of the Regency label.

Next time I'll stay somewhere else.
