Description: Legal Sea Foods began in 1950 as a fish market in the Inman Square neighborhood of Cambridge, Massachusetts. It’s here that the “Legal” name became synonymous with quality and freshness. In 1968, our first seafood restaurant opened, right next to the fish market. The fish was simply prepared, either broiled or fried, and served on paper plates at communal picnic tables. Despite the low-key trappings, the food was second to none and word quickly spread. This early success led to further expansion and now, six decades later with restaurants along the Eastern Seaboard, the commitment to freshness and quality endures: "If it isn't fresh, it isn't Legal!”

Kaia was our server and did an excellent job! Wine presentation was by the book! Food was over the top and we sent thank yous to the chef! Great value. Also great for people watching.

Legal Seafood is one of those places we always to return to while in Boston, but sadly, this dining destination has declined in quality since the change in ownership. Most recently, Legal was simply average in every way, no doubt losing market share in a very competitive restaurant market. We regret the passing of a great local restaurant chain.

We had a great lunch here. Nice ambiance, good menu, good prices, good food, good service. It was a very welcome retreat from a busy sight seeing morning. I was a little weary seeing as it’s a chain, but it had a great menu with some local favorites. Our waitress was great and we just really enjoyed ourselves.

Our server was David. He started off OK but then it just went wrong. We got the wrong drinks, he went to change them and we waited, and waited and then chased him - he had forgotten but blamed the bar.
Ordering food seemed tricky, we had to correct him on a few points but then it seemed to click and we assumed all was ok?
Our starter arrive - perfectly pleasant and half way through eating them our entrees arrived, what?? The young guy who brought them seemed to think it was OK to try and leave them on our table whilst we ate our starters?? No. We suggested he take them back to the kitchen and he said he’d keep them warm?? No again - it will need to be made fresh as we had fish. David arrives and we explain the situation - would appear that was the kitchens fault?
Our entrees arrived, not sure if reheated? Either way, they were tasty.
David brings our bill and then wanders off, we could see him by the side of the kitchen but he just stays put. We waited for 10 minutes then wandered down to the bar to pay it directly there.
Food 7/10 Value for money ($140+ for 2 courses and 2 drinks) 4/10, service 1/10
Safe to say we will never bother with this ‘chain’ again.

I go to Legal for delicious swordfish. This time was another home run. And a huge surprise with the most delicious wedge salad I have ever had that came with salmon. It was fabulous. And perfect waiter. A great evening
