Because of its many attributes, staying at the Whitney Hotel might be the best way to visit Boston. First, they raise the bar on hospitality to rarely seen levels. Their staff have a deeply personal yet non-intrusive way to make you feel right at home, whether you are staying for a night or for several weeks. The intimacy of the reception area and the ease of access to your room add to the practical charm of this boutique hotel. Be it to bring ice to the room, shine your shoes, or lit the cozy fire pit at their patio, the staff will be attentive to every detail to anticipate your needs, cater to your wishes, and exceed your service expectations. Second, if you seek comfort in great style, look no further than these wonderfully appointed and tastefully designed and decorated rooms. From the standard to the suites, you will feel rewarded by the super comfortable beds and the sound-shielded rooms yielding a great night sleep, while the welcoming bathrooms with a rain shower makes for a great start and end of the day. Third, the hotel grounds are intimate and well-designed with indoor and outdoor dining areas of the Peregrine restaurant and bar, as well as a private patio where you can relax fireside or further into the carefully groomed garden. The food is artsy and delicious and stands strong against the many superb dining offerings in the area. Which brings me to location. As you exit the Whitney, turn left and you will cross a short bridge into the Charles River bank for a walk or a jog. Turn right and you will enjoy a stroll along the historic Charles street lined with interesting shops and highly rated restaurants and eateries. Keep going and your will soon hit the Public Garden and across into Newbury street. Walk straight out of the hotel and into Cambridge street and you will pass the world-renowned MGH medical area and may keep going into Quincy Market. Besides that, the trip from and to the airport is a breeze.
In all, after my first stay at the Whitney, I knew I had come across a special place. On every trip since, I have looked forward to arriving at this home away from home. More so, they are to be congratulated for adopting high standards of COVID-19 preparedness while sustaining an unsurpassed level of quality and preserving its unique splendor throughout this challenging year.
