Perfect location in the heart of Boston. Very friendly & helpful front desk staff who gave good local recommendations.
Good size room, clean. One of the lifts was out of action during our 3 day stay which was frustrating for all and the on site restaurant was very disappointing so only used once

You pull up to a non functioning water feature and that pretty well sets the tone for the rest of your stay.
The location is great, our room had a tiny balcony with opening doors to that balcony which would have been great if the doors closed correctly and kept out the noise of the seemingly constant idling busses across the street and Boston horn use. The single working elevator was one thing, but then that one ceased functioning and left us looking for the freight elevator. The poorly patched carpet, torn wallpaper and overall damage level weren't great, but the mold on the ceiling, toothpaste splatters on the wall and lack of cleanliness just plain gross.
Ownership should be ashamed at their lack of investment in what could be a great property.
I am a travel agent and have stayed in hotels all over the world. At this price point, the Bostonian Boston has to be one of the most disappointing I have ever seen. The positive point is that the staff were friendly and polite, but they are suffering, in my view, from what appears to be a significantly under invested hotel. Our room was a good size but with badly marked carpet, pictures that were collapsed within their frames, a mini fridge with exposed electrical wiring, noisy Aircon, dismal corridors, wall paper held together with tape,dirty lift, the other lift,one of two off the lobby appears from other reviews to have been out of action for three months. Room dated and gloomy. Boston and it's visitors deserve better in my view. We were pleased when our stay ended. To add to it all they charge 25 USD per night destination fee ( a sort of resort fee).If they are not going to invest in it very quickly they should sell it and let someone else do so in my view.
This is a phenomenal Location for sightseeing. It’s right across the street from Faneuil Hall and Quincy market, in the middle of the Freedom trail.
The hotel is older but rooms are large, bathroom is roomy with a separate dressing area. Water pressure is good and hot water seemed instant. Rooms have small balconies, so you can get fresh air. The finishes are a little worn, but that didn’t bother us at all.
We only had 2 criticisms of the hotel: there are no towel bars in the bathroom, just a single hook, which is inadequate for drying towels, especially with more than one person, and the lighting in the dressing/make up area is totally inadequate.
There is “free” bottled water in the lobby, but you pay for it with a $25 daily hotel fee. Apparently the fee also gives you discounts on some tours, but we had already arranged for tours before we knew about this. Nevertheless, the water was very welcome during a day of walking around Boston.
We definitely recommend this hotel for a sightseeing trip to Boston.
One of 2 elevators were broken and in 3 days no one ever was seen to look at it or attempt to fix it. The wallpaper was torn in the halls and in the hotel room. The rug was filthy in the bathroom and had some unknown dark horrible stains on it. No one ever offered housekeeping even when we placed towels in a pile on the bathroom floor as instructed. No fresh towels or linens or ANY upkeep. The room phone was broken and never took a charge ( handheld) .I called the desk to request room service from my cellphone and explained that our room phone was broken- NO ACTION . Oh also no answer at room service the 5 times I tried to call. Submitted a lte check out online and was told one of the 2 times the manager came to evict us that they “ never received it” Those visits were preceded by 3-4 haunting phone calls . I was initially embarrassed feeling like I was being tossed out . However that quickly turned into being pissed off and mistreated and disrespected. I am an Amex Platinum card holder who has stayed here 3-4 times in the past . I will never ever return. The best thing about it was the bar because I needed to drink! Thank you Anastasia and crew
Very nice hotel. Stayed 3 nights and have no complaints. Great location to several historical sites and Quincy market was right across the road. Room was as described and beds were comfy. Staff was very friendly and always was quick to tend to our needs like whenever we needed towels, etc.. The only negative thing that we experienced if anything was that the hotel sits right off North street so anytime an ambulance or police car or fire truck came by you definitely heard it. Great place to stay! Definitely would stay again.
