Great old historic hotel I have a soft spot for these types of hotel properties and am realistic in my expectations. Overall, front desk staff, doormen etc were all excellent, very friendly and helpful. I did engage the concierge for a recommendation on a local comedy club or if she knew of a good one but did not really get any help. Used the smartphone and got lucky. Rooms are very small but in excellent condition. I'm a detail person and when I mean it was excellent, it looked like it could have been remodeled yesterday. No chipped paint, furniture was in good condition, hats off to housekeeping, even the plugs and sockets and small ledges appeared clean. My only beef with the room was we did get 2 complimentary bottles of water however retrieving them from the refrigerator was somewhat of a challenge as the hutch door opened against the end of the bed and opposite the hinge of the mini fridge. I did appreciate the turn down service and the selection of chocolates on the bed. Nice touch. I parked a car with valet, well, lets just say Boston is VERY proud of its parking spots. $45 a day is a screw job no matter where you stay. I paid $10/day for a Hertz Rental and $45/day for parking... go figure. We ate in the restaurant the evening we got there and service was good, food was good. Pricey as you would expect in Boston but not unexpected. Unimpressed the following morning when we came down for breakfast at 8:45 and they couldn't seat 5 people for at least 20 minutes and there were many empty tables. Went across the street to Max Brenner and had breakfast there without wait. Overall good choice, I would stay there again.
