I recently stayed here for 5 nights while attending a course in Boston. This was the hotel chosen by the course organizers but I had no trouble agreeing to stay here, knowing Fairmont's reputation as a high end hotel with impeccable service.
The hotel itself is elegant and full of old world charm but has all the modern amenities you would want, such as high speed internet, in room coffee maker, safe, mini bar, great shower with good water pressure etc. There were nice thick bathrobes provided but I was surprised that there were NO slippers in the room. All the other Fairmonts I have stayed at always had lovely soft slippers - not sure why this one doesn't!
Check in was quick and easy. I'm a Fairmont President's Club Platinum member and I had a little trouble getting late checkout confirmed - even though late checkouts are supposed to be GUARANTEED for Platinum members. I was first told that I would have to wait until the day before checkout to ask and it would depend on availability. That's not what happens at all the other Fairmonts I've stayed at - I have always been able to get late checkout guaranteed at checkin due to the Platinum status and I was a little perturbed that it was such a struggle for me to get that confirmed.

The room I had was very large and had all the amenities I could want (except for slippers). The bed was very comfortable, as one would expect from a Fairmont. The soft pillows and duvets were lovely and made it hard to get up in the morning for my course! The marbled bathroom was large enough and had 2 sinks and a large walk in shower. Water pressure was pretty good. Room was generally pretty clean although the bathroom floor needed a good sweep when I checked in. I asked housekeeping to sweep it the next day and it took 2 calls and the supervisor's involvement before the room was properly vacuumed and swept. That's a bit disappointing coming from a Fairmont.
There was a good sized work desk with plug ins. High speed internet was complimentary for Platinum members but I found that I had to constantly re-log on, which was a bit of a nuisance.
Most of the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. Late night snack at the Oak Bar was good as was room service.
Location was very central - walking distance to shopping and parks. Logan Back Bay bus takes you directly from the airport to the front of the hotel for $7.50 or you can take Uber pool for about the same price.
Was this the best Fairmont experience? No (deficiencies included the hairs on bathroom floor at checkin, difficulty getting late checkout confirmed even though I'm a Platinum member, having to re-log onto wifi multiple times, no slippers). Would I return to this hotel? Yes (it's central, has large rooms and generally good service and comfortable sleep).More
