While yes, it is touristy, the seafood is for real! The food stands not a rip-off quality-wise, but pricey. The sea, open space and sky, decently clean and safe, great views everywhere, we really enjoyed it. There are some things for the younger set, say ages 7+ such as the tours of the SS Jerimiah O'Brian from D-day of WW II, and actual battle submarine USS Pampanito. Also several other historical ships such a three-masted schooner, paddle-wheel and a steam ferry could fill the day. Definitely windy and quite chilly this time ofvyear, dress layered with comfortable shoes!

Thank Sandra J

You could spend several hours here. There are a number of street entertainers. There are many shops and restaurants. You can see Alcatraz from Pier 39. And of course there are the famous seals at Pier 39. Lots of fun for an entire family.

Really enjoyed visiting Boudin's bakery and sampling breakfast there. Peet's coffee is fab - try the macchiato. Also loved the street vendor stalls selling seafood and chowder.

Fisherman's Wharf is a place full of nostalgia, it has something special in the air. I love to get a bowl of chowder in a bread bowl, to go through all the little cute shops, and bring my kids to see the sea-lions. The carousel is a piece of art.
