The hotel resort is located north west on Maui near the small town of Lahaina. It is a large resort with plenty of amenities available to guests. It has its own swimming pools with access to the beautiful stretch of sandy beach via the gardens offering alternative shady areas to lounge. Towels are available free via guest cards and beach chairs and parasols are available for day hire. There is a large restaurant overlooking the pool area together with a bar, both convenient but rather expensive. There is an on-site shop selling gifts food snacks and drinks. The rooms are varied both in size and facilities. Our room had a side balcony view of the resort complex, the beach and ocean with the mountains in the distance. The bathroom with shower and toilet had no wash basin which was oddly was located in the kitchenette area, an odd place for washing, shaving and teeth brushing - and a busy one when access to the wardrobe, fridge or safe was required at the same time. Car parking is a short walk on site but is charged at a daily rate for hotel guests, alternatively, hotel guests can take up the more expensive valet parking option. Shops and restaurants are worth making the short drive nearby, there is also the excellent Castaway restaurant and bar next door for sunset dinners. Overall a relaxed resort with good facilities but perhaps rather expensive particularly for the add-on's - but we loved the location.

Aloha,

We are so delighted that you enjoyed the location, and it sounds like you were able to get a through sense of our amenities. There is plenty to do and see at the resort, and in the surrounding areas. We do not charge resort fees, and have kept our rates comparable to the other resorts in the area. Our major goal is to offer a great value for the cost, and hope that you feel this is what you received. Please keep us in mind if you choose to visit Maui again in the future. We would love to welcome you back with us.

Mahalo,
Brittany

We stayed in maui on out first anniversary trip. We extended an original stay at the kanapalui beach club by adding 3 nights here. The resort itself is beautiful and on an amazing beach! The staff were not overly friendly like most people in Hawaii. Actually kind of short ...no interest in the fact that we were celebrating an anniversary and at check in there were no pleasantries exchanged ...very formal and robotic to inform of the daily parking fee of 15 per day.... (by the way you will walk from the parking lot...and it's dark with no lighting a little sketchy I chose not to walk to or from the car alone..did not feel safe) and the check out time and location of elevators. The room itself was certainly on the small side and lacking in expected amenities. No microwave..no filters for coffee pot..or coffee.. very limited drawer space and minimal hangers, the shower was so small I banged my elbows when using it....no I am not a large person..certainly meant for strict functionality. The balcony was small but had amazing views of the golf course and a side view of the ocean! The resort has pretty much everything on site but they charge for everything! I asked where the coin laundry was located and was handed a map to get to it....was not too far but after trapsing across the resort found that it was $ 6 a load for wash then 6 dryer fee. After I had only brought $5 in quarters thinking that would be enough to at least it has a change machine on site. The resort could easily be a 5 if they just took the time to care a little more on the employee side. Heads up and friendliness woukd have gone a very long way in smoothing some of the inconvenience over!

Aloha,

Thank you for taking the time to give us your review of your stay with us. We are saddened to hear that you feel that our staff was robotic and did not care that you were celebrating your anniversary. We strive to offer friendly and accommodating service to all guests and apologize that is not what you feel you received. We do not supply microwaves in the room as they are considered a fire hazard. Coffee and filters as provide, and will address this with housekeeping if they were not. The laundry facilities are $3 to wash and $3 to dry per load. We will work harder to make sure our guests feel the Aloha spirit we are known for. Please keep us in mind if you choose to visit Maui again in the future.

Mahalo,
Brittany

We stayed in Beach Front Cottage E and loved it. The sound of the waves crashing is very relaxing. The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant manager recommended a little bakery in Makawao on our way to Halekala Crater. The cream puffs were delicious.

Room tip: Higher floors in the hotel have a better view and likely less noise. The beach cottages enjoy the sound of the ocean.

We booked our stay at Royal Lahaina through Donna Bender of MauiCalls. We were looking for something with all the amenities and close to civilization, but not shoe-horned into a huge resort complex. The Royal Lahaina fit the bill perfectly. The hotel lobby flows out into a lovely lounge/restaurant, which in turn flows out to a swimming pool (1 of 3 on the property), which then leads out to the beach beyond, offering fantastic ocean views from the lounge terrace. The beach was pristine, not over-crowded, and perfect for spending a lazy day.

Donna also gave us a copy of her "Local Girl's Guide to Maui", which had many useful tips for planning Island activities, where to find the best eats, cultural tips, and recommendations on how to support local businesses. This was extremely informative and helpful, as there is a LOT to do on the island.

We highly recommend the Royal Lahaina. Our stay was very comfortable and enjoyable, the staff was always helpful, and the location and atmosphere were great. We would also recommend using Maui Calls to book your trip, especially if you are first-timers like we were. Her many useful recommendations took the stress out of planning the trip, and everything was spot-on!

Room tip: We had an upper floor room on the south-east corner. Excellent view of the beach, the property, and the mountains behind us.

We stayed at Royal Lahaina on our Honeymoon, 39 years ago. We returned finally and stayed in the cottages once again. How lovely! Ours had recently been renovated and it was so nice. We like the cottages, as we don't feel we are staying in a large hotel.

The staff is SO friendly! The amenities wonderful. Can't wait to come back and definitely not waiting 39 years!
