One night stay -pool closed for renovation, restaurant closed. Grounds were beautiful. Rooms were nice. Beach was rocky but nice to walk along. Cruise ships pulled in and out. Took 3 tries to get a room key to work.

Mahalo to all the staff at the Maui Beach for welcoming our ohana for our father's celebration of life weekend. It was an emotional weekend for our family, (we had his celebration of life party at the Ballroom on site) and also rented a few rooms during the weekend as a hub for planning and organizing. With kids, adults, and lots of visitors in and out helping us with decor and other things for the party, the Maui Beach Hotel staff (especially the front desk and cleaning staff) were all so sweet and kind to us throughout our stay. We love how down to earth this hotel is, even with the changing times, and rising costs. My siblings and I are all born and raised on Maui but have all moved away to outer islands or the mainland, but we truly feel "at home" at Maui Beach Hotel. And for that, we say MAHALO. We will be back again for our next ohana meet-up on maui. All our aloha!

The location, close to the airport, was exactly what we needed for one night. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately the room smelled of mold, which seemed to be caused by the bathroom design (no lip on shower, water runs right onto carpet)

I havent stepped foot into OGG airport & I’m already writing this so you know its serious. I never usually leave reviews but at this point I’m beyond infuriated. Save yourself a headache & money by coming to this hotel. Where do I even begin? First of all, I could have SWORN I booked Maui Seaside Hotel, but apparently I made a mistake. And a MISTAKE it was.

To start, we booked a king size standard room. When we arrived, staff was warm & welcoming, however when we got to our room, it reeked of cigarettes, and was clearly a room for folks with disabilities. The shower was “roll in” with a giant shower seat & there was no closet or drawer area for clothes. Immediately we went to the front desk to ask for a room change & were told there werent any other king rooms available, but they could put us in a double - we agreed reluctantly as we are a couple & sleeping together in a double wouldnt be very comfortable but we were not going to stay with the horrible smell of cigarettes.

The next room also had a horrible smell, and as soon as we walked into the bathroom there was a HUGE roach on its back. We killed it and immediately went back to see if we could get a different room. They upgraded us to a double ocean view free of charge & even gave us a welcoming package with some Hawaiian treats - great right? We thought.

First night we slept comfortably in room 231, but we noticed a faint smell of urine on our sheets in the morning. We were confused as we hadn’t smelled it when we got into the bed, but the more we pulled the blankets up we smelled it. We inspected them to find that the entire bottom half of the sheets REEKED of urine. Pulled those back, the fitted sheet reeked of urine. Pulled that back & there was a stain on the mattress, you guessed it, of URINE. Which means they dont clean the sheets. We just switched beds because at this point we couldnt be bothered giving another complaint. We just left a note on the bed, took off the “do not disturb” from our door so housekeeping would come while we were away and do something about it.

We came back from a full day and housekeeping never stepped foot into our room. The note was still there & the room was still dirty. At that point I’m over it entirely & I have one day left in the room & just left it the way it was. Slept in the other bed no problem.

Our flight out was at 9PM, so we were told to come to the front desk the day of departure and ask for a late check-out. First we were told if it went passed a certain time then it would be a $60 fee. Day of departure (today) I went down first thing in the morning & told the front desk I needed late check-out. She told me that I could stay until 1PM. I told her specifically, my flight leaves at 9PM, so I wouldnt leave til much later than 1pm. She said she would have to check with housekeeping & then confirmed late check out & charged the $70 (was taxed). NEVER, and I mean NEVER did she tell me that the fee only was for an extension until 3PM, because had she, we would have left regular check out time due to us having plans for the day elsewhere & we were coming back after just to shower & leave.

Well, to our surprise when we returned to our room @ 6, the door wouldnt open. I went to the front desk and told a verrrrry snobby employee (different from this morning) that the door was locked. She then told me that my checkout time was 3PM. I told her no, that I spoke to the woman earlier, paid an extension fee, and she never told me that it was only until 3pm. This employee proceeded to tell me that the employee earlier put in the computer that check out was at 3PM in the notes for our room, so she HAD to have told us. I’m now getting aggravated because this woman is telling me that something occurred when she wasnt even present & two, it had not in fact, occurred. I told her no she did not tell me 3pm, she may have put it in the computer but she did not verbally tell me. She continued to tell me that she did tell me as if she was there. At that point I refused to argue with ignorance and asked for the manager who came out & told me that I had to pay a whole nights fee for the room because I was checking out @ 6pm. I told her the same exact situation, again, I was not told 3PM & I sure as hell was not paying almost $400 for an extra night due to their employees mistake of not telling me. She tells me to “calm down” which is laughable obviously in this situation. She then tells me she will work with me and only charge me $150, but she could not waive that because housekeeping leaves at 3PM, so there would be nobody to clean the room for the next days check-ins - which are ALSO at 3PM. So, logically how does that make sense? If housekeeping comes in the morning & very much had time to clean the room before check-ins at 3PM. At this point I’m tired of arguing and just agreed to the $150 which is absolutely absurd. They then had multiple people including a security guard knocking on the door every 5 minutes for payment as we rushed to shower & get our bags together. These people omit information, then try to gaslight you and tell you things happened that didnt, and then force you to pay them. They are THIEVES. The original employee who welcomed us was the same one who made the mistake of not telling me 3pm was the cutoff & she was a very nice woman, customer service wise. But you just cannot make those types of mistakes especially when it comes to peoples money.

Please don’t stay here. This was a horrible ending to a trip in a beautiful place. I don’t want this experience for anyone else. Not to mention this place is more of an old motel with a cloudy swimming pool overlooking a highway, and the worst beach on the island period. STAY AWAY.

Not happy with the hotel. Room was not cleaned daily. Furniture needs to be replaced. Restaurant in hotel was not available either closed or having other Private event in that room. Pictures online look great but actual hotel was very different
