This B&B was such a treat. The location is very convenient to everything in Hilo and then the parking is free so makes it easy to explore the island with a car rental. Gay really cares about her guests and you can see it in all the details and how accommodating she is. The breakfast was always delicious and fresh. The rooms are reasonably priced. Hilo Honu Inn made for a very relaxing experience. Highly recommend to book here for an authentic experience away from hotels and resorts. Everything was clean and well kept. Also, Gay can help with any info and anything you may need for your stay on the Big Island.

The Hilo Honu Inn was as wonderful this December as it was ten years ago when we stayed there. This time my entire family booked all three rooms/suites and this proved to be a great decision. The rooms are all beautiful and the breakfast is great. We really appreciated learning about the history, customs, and sights of the Big Island from Gay. The Inn is close to downtown and Rainbow Falls, and only a short drive to the Botanical Gardens. I would highly recommend anyone visiting Hilo to consider staying here.

We stayed in the Samurai Suite, the Japanese inspired room on the 3rd floor. It was both exotic and comfortable at the same time. Hilo is just awesome and this was a wonderful place to relax while we explored such a great place.

We stayed three nights and had a wonderful stay! Breakfast was the best ever - lots of fresh fruit and not your traditional "mainland" breakfast and Gay chatted with us while we ate. It was great - we learned where to go and what to see as she was so knowledgeable! She even performed a bit of hula dancing while we were eating and was exceptionally talented.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Gay is wonderful: knowledgeable, friendly, and kind. It felt like we were staying with good friends. The accommodations are great: the Samurai suite is a cultural experience in its own right. The food is outstanding. Most of all, we felt as though we came away understanding what it’s like to live in Hawaii.
