Highly recommend staying at the Shaka Shak. The rooms were really clean, and the coffee and Waffles for Breakfast were lovely. Cynthia in particular was a great host; she was really helpful when we were planning our activities and helped us out when making bookings and deciding which places to visit. Would definitely go back!

Perfect guest house. Host, room, bathroom, everything great. I recommend to anyone: solo, couple, family. Cynthia will always find the room that suit you :-). Also, lot of good advices to discover this beautiful Island!
Good kitchen, clean sheets, friendly help. Just wish there was air conditioning! Also, make sure you don't goof up like me and get the wrong address. There are two different locations for Shaka Shak in Hilo!
Very friendly staff and, comfy accommodation and very clean room.
Price is a bit high compared to what you get, but this comment applies to Hawaii in general.

I stayed here to visit some old friends living in Hilo, the experience was great. The price made me hesitant, but it definitely felt worth the value. The room was very spacious, and it felt like I had a studio all to myself. The host kept the room very tidy, and was very accommodating. I would definitely stay here again!
Thank you Cynthia for your kind hospitality again on short notice accommodating my wife and I in Hilo at your Shaka Shack. It's not a shack . The room was spacious And Clean. The house was warm and comfortable with original wood floors. Listening to the rain and Coqui tree frogs chirping in the tropical garden at night was nice. Thanks again
