We had high hopes. The resto is one of the favorites of a good friend whose taste in restaurants we trust. We were looking forward to our lunch. The venue itself is nice enough; nothing elaborate; no tablecloths; flatware rolled in a paper napkin; but...bright and somewhat cheery. I love having a beer with Indian and Persian food, but not here; no liquor. The server was enthusiastic, but, frankly, not very good at serving. We felt rushed when he asked what we wanted to eat, then ore or less deserted after we made our selections. The complimentary lavash with a cilantro-type spread. The server forgot to mention that the spread was bitingly spicy, something to know before eating it rather than after, especially if one is having stomach issues. (No questions about spice likes or allergies.) I ordered a salad to start; it was good; lettuce, paneer, tomatoes, olives (would have been good to know the olives have pits, so be careful; crunch; ooops). My wife ordered an array of pickled veggies. The pickling was very powerful; so powerful should couldn't eat it. I tried and I could eat it, if I wanted to. But I didn't want to. I didn't like the dish. For a main, I had a salmon kabob with rice. The salmon had that "salmony" taste indicating (to me at least) that it had been hanging around for a while. The rice was good; diners get to choose which rice (if any) they want, for an additional cost. My wife had lamb kabobs. She LPOVED the rice that came with the lamb, which she was not enthusiastic about. One thing to note: In order to make room for the mains, the server had to remove two plates, but he left thee plates of unfinished for on the table, creating a genuinely unappetizing vibe.
Lotsa room for lotssa improvement.More
