We've stayed here on several occasions on the return trip from Melbourne to Sydney, as it made a good place to break the trip if you're running a bit behind schedule.
Unfortunately the Peppers chain has now taken it over, and it's not the place that it used to be, having been converted to a mid-level convention centre, so expect the beautiful public ares to be overrun with Avon ladies.
Instead of staying in the grand old country house with its old world charm, you're most likely to be located in in a newly constructed motel-style unit, which is clean and comfortable, but completely sterile. Forget about the website's claims about wonderful views over the Southern Highlands, as all you'll be looking at is another unit.
The restaurant used to be excellent, but is now 2 - 3 stars at best. Our meal was basically rubbish, but when we complained, the attitude was 'tell someone who cares' (and it wasn't the chef).
We mentioned this again on checkout, and the manager graciously waived the 1% service fee on our credit card payment!
