Stayed at the Udalla last week ( October school holiday week in Scotland) with my wife and granddaughter.
I'm usually generous in my reviews, so rating this at 3 out of 5 took a bit of thought.
Good points:
1.Great location. Its easy walk down nearby stairs to the beach and the Vistamar Shopping Centre at the seafront. Plus there's a selection of cafes and bars flanking the Hotel front entrance either side, and some excellent restaurants just across the street. There is also a very large ( and cheap) Mercado Supermarket around the corner (closed Sundays).
2.Clean hotel - all public areas, pool and rooms regularly and well cleaned.
3.Great staff - all helpful and friendly. Spoke to several during our stay.
Bad ( or not so good ?)points :
1.None of the apartments have air conditioning. OK, not a major issue perhaps in October weather - but we still had to ask for a fan to cope with the day and nighttime temperatures. For this reason alone we would not contemplate rebooking the Udalla in hotter summer weather.
2. The wifi is indeed free but was intermittent and indeed awful at times- maybe thats my crappy iphone to blame to some extent.
3. Some of the apartments in the Hotel - especially the ones higher up - appear to have been sold off to private owners and consequently are privately sub let. This didn't cause us any particular problem during our stay but I did wonder about a 'what if' scenario if our room was next door to a group of nightlife party goers using a private let?
4. If you have a room facing onto the main road ( Antonio Dominguez ) be prepared for both traffic noise and local bar and restaurant noise. Not our cup of tea ( we were at the back of the hotel fortunately) but a fellow guest described having 'a terrible night' with his room at the front. His room also had some problem with the plumbing apparently - so he was wanting to be relocated when we left.
5. Water dripping from somewhere up above onto the floor near the Pool Bar was there every day during our stay. The slipping hazard and a bucket were properly signposted but I really thought that the problem should have dealt with at source.
Maybe it was coming from one of the privately owned studios?

So a mixed bag if you like...........hence Average.
Some will find it above average, some not.
The adage 'you get what you pay for' comes to mind..................

Room tip: Rooms at the rear of the Hotel are quieter NO AIR CONDITIONING in any rooms!

Just had a excellent holiday in Tenerife in which we stayed at this hotel. The hotel was in a excellent location we couldn't ask for more . The staff were friendly and helpful and our room was kept very clean and tidy. The pool area was peaceful and lovely to sit around with a nice pool side bar. We had a lovely balcony plus our own private solarium . We would stay here again the only down side was no air con but the staff did give us a fan .

Hotel is in a very nice location close to all the main bars and restaurants. We liked the location as it was in a slightly better area with nicer bars and restaurants. Great kebab place next to the hotel and Chinese. Wonderful large supermarket a short walk away..

Apartments are clean and fairly modern. My only critique would be that air conditioning would be a great addition. Saying that when balcony doors were open it cooled nicely.

Pool area was great and so so quiet. Don't expect any mad dashes for sun beds you can just take your pick.

Great place to stay......

We arrived at 1pm and told we couldn't check in until 2pm which I thought pretty poor. Receptionist was grumpy but we never saw her again and all the other staff were absolutely lovely. We were on floor 3 with a lovely mountain and street view from our balcony. We also had a private roof terrace but we didn't use it as there was no need to. Room was split level and well equipped, very clean and adequate. Hotel supplied a brilliant fan free of charge. Pool area was absolutely lovely with plenty of sunbeds. Only bought a couple of drinks from the bar as we took our own water and if I fancied a cup of tea I went to our room and made one and brought it down to the pool area. Did not eat at the hotel so unable to comment on the food. Supermarket close by was brilliant. Bottles of Cava for under 2 euro and was really lovely. Bought a couple of bottles and had a glass on the balcony before going out. We bought sandwich stuff, cheese, ham, canarian tomatoes and fresh bread and had that for lunch and ate out of an evening.. 10 min walk to Hard Rock area and also 10 min walk to beach, down hill on the way so up hill on the way back. Further walk to Veronicas. Free wifi was brilliant too, was able to watch Netflix and download episodes with no problem at all. Would recommend this hotel 100%
