Stayed at the Udalla last week ( October school holiday week in Scotland) with my wife and granddaughter.
I'm usually generous in my reviews, so rating this at 3 out of 5 took a bit of thought.
Good points:
1.Great location. Its easy walk down nearby stairs to the beach and the Vistamar Shopping Centre at the seafront. Plus there's a selection of cafes and bars flanking the Hotel front entrance either side, and some excellent restaurants just across the street. There is also a very large ( and cheap) Mercado Supermarket around the corner (closed Sundays).
2.Clean hotel - all public areas, pool and rooms regularly and well cleaned.
3.Great staff - all helpful and friendly. Spoke to several during our stay.
Bad ( or not so good ?)points :
1.None of the apartments have air conditioning. OK, not a major issue perhaps in October weather - but we still had to ask for a fan to cope with the day and nighttime temperatures. For this reason alone we would not contemplate rebooking the Udalla in hotter summer weather.
2. The wifi is indeed free but was intermittent and indeed awful at times- maybe thats my crappy iphone to blame to some extent.
3. Some of the apartments in the Hotel - especially the ones higher up - appear to have been sold off to private owners and consequently are privately sub let. This didn't cause us any particular problem...Stayed at the Udalla last week ( October school holiday week in Scotland) with my wife and granddaughter.

3. Some of the apartments in the Hotel - especially the ones higher up - appear to have been sold off to private owners and consequently are privately sub let. This didn't cause us any particular problem during our stay but I did wonder about a 'what if' scenario if our room was next door to a group of nightlife party goers using a private let?
4. If you have a room facing onto the main road ( Antonio Dominguez ) be prepared for both traffic noise and local bar and restaurant noise. Not our cup of tea ( we were at the back of the hotel fortunately) but a fellow guest described having 'a terrible night' with his room at the front. His room also had some problem with the plumbing apparently - so he was wanting to be relocated when we left.
5. Water dripping from somewhere up above onto the floor near the Pool Bar was there every day during our stay. The slipping hazard and a bucket were properly signposted but I really thought that the problem should have dealt with at source.
Maybe it was coming from one of the privately owned studios?
So a mixed bag if you like...........hence Average.
Some will find it above average, some not.
