The hotel location is perfect close to everything. However it does not look like a 5 star hotel. It is 25 years old and in many places looks it and needs renovation. If you go with the mindset of visiting a 3.5 star hotel you will not be disappointed. Pool area is nice, at breakfast the restaurant is very crowded. Lots of choice but very little variation day by day. Good value though as prices are reasonable.

Room tip: Go for pool view room on upper floors

Dear Derek D,

First of all I must thank the dedicated time to send us your comments about your stay at the Mediterranean Palace Hotel. We are pleased that you have received good service by our professional team and feel that I will transmit your comments to the manager of the restaurants.

Regarding your comment about the rooms, we are aware that they need a change and that is why we started a remodeling plan in 2012. We started with the common areas (sport bar, restaurants, gardens, main pool, solarium and Mare Kids Club) of the Mediterranean Palace.
The reforms of a complex of this size, we understand, should be done in stages to try to affect, as little as possible, guests and can thus guarantee a pleasant stay in Tenerife.

We have to apologise as it seems we have caused you a bad image and due to it a bad experience.

Thank you once again very much for your time sharing your experience with us and we say goodbye hoping to have the chance to welcome you again at Mare Nostrum Resort.

Best regards,

Just stayed for a week at the Mediterranean Palace. Super location for the beach and beachfront walks. Plentiful of restaurants and decent shops opposite the hotel. The pool is great and lots of activities going on. The variety on offer at breakfast is amazing. I wouldn't rate it as a 5 star as the rooms are not very big and the bathrooms a bit tired, could do with refurbishing. The hotel is immaculately clean with helpful staff. There is a fridge in the bedroom which they wanted something like 25 Euro for the week! They should forget the charge. The use of the facilities at the Cleopatra is a plus. Would recommend the hotel and would stay here again.

Stayed here for a week at the beginning of August with my boyfriend. Got a good deal through travel agent so paid a very reasonable for this five star hotel! We were greeted with champagne on arrival and the check in staff were helpful & efficient! The hotel was certainly a five star in terms of staff, facilities, cleanliness and comfort. However the room was fairly standard; quite small, with ensuite and balcony. On the plus side the room was cleaned EVERY DAY and very little time was spent in the room as we were outside and doing activities basically all day every day. Never ate dinner in the hotel but as breakfast was included we did avail of this. Amazing choice and variety provided for breakfast.
The location was fantastic, 3 min walk from the beach, right in the centre of the shopping & restaurant district and about 15 min walk from the strip.
Would definitely recommend this hotel to any one travelling to Tenerife on a sun holiday !
Also! Do the jet ski safari if u have the time / money, quite expensive €150 but worth it. The one further along the coast 40min away was a great experience!

Just returned from a 10 night stay at the hotel. It is quite deceptive from the outside in that it looks v ordinary but inside the foyer and reception area is v impressive. Water fountains and spotlessly clean everywhere.

Facilities are great, esp for families with entertainment laid on for kids in the kids club. There are also adult activites by the pool every day. Aqua gym, darts, table tennis, football (on the astro turf pitch). The entertainment team are excellent and always on the go. Entertainment at night on the terrace is good. Some nights much better than others depending on the act. We particularly liked a group of 5 men, Entertainment goes on until 11 ish. If you have a room overlooking the pool you will hear this music at night.

Whilst the hotel is pretty impressive I feel the rooms let it down and it does not feel 5 star.. Floor tiles cracked etc, We had a separate shower but the glass only went down half way on one side and the rest of the shower curtain stood inside the shower, it meant water all came out of the shower and then left the floor slippy. Why not just have a full glass door around the shower??

We had a child with us so they gave us the fridge for free. Safe was also free. Child got a bath robe, own towels, own box with toothbrush, toiletries which was a nice touch.

Breakfast had a great selection. Everything you could want from fried eggs and beans to freshly cooked omelettes, pancakes, ham cheese, pastries and cava too.

Dinner (hot food) became a little boring after a while with same options repeated. I thought there might have been themed nights like bbq, Chinese etc. But chefs were just cooking meat and fish on the hot plate. Excellent selection of salads. Their system of drinks with meals could be managed better. When you sit down waiter comes over to take order and bring drinks, however you have to wait for another waiter to come to pay. Surely the waiter that brings the drinks can take payment too. Often because it was so busy we saw people leaving without paying as the waiter had not got around to them.

Pool area is busy but you will nearly always find a sun lounger. People do get up very early to get poolside beds. Towels are free which is great. Location is great also everything v close by.

Just got back from the Mediterranean Palace Hotel, myself and my 6 year old son stayed 11th august - 18th august 2015. The hotel itself is a really nice place to stay but i would'nt say its a 5 star hotel. As you enter the hotel it looks great ..all sparkle, mirrors, lights, chrome and leather couches, but is let down when you go upto the rooms,i found the beds to be pretty uncomfortable and hard,we also had a problem with the handle and lock on the room door...the handle came off and the lock didnt work properly,i ended up going to reception to report it but it still wasnt fixed by the time we left. The room basically is bathroom, which gives the option off a bath or shower(4 taps) wardrobe, bed, dressing table, television which gave us the 3 main english channels plus sky news ( no sky sports),theres about 40 other channels, plus the odd channel you dont let the kids watch..haha..,you get a fridge which should cost 2.85 euros aday but we never got charged for it and a free safe in the room which you dont need to put a deposit down for.
The good points about the hotel are.. 1..our room was cleaned every day
2. The kids club is great and keeps the little ones from getting bored.
3. The location of the hotel is great, shops outside the front of the hotel and the beach at the back of the hotel.
4. Very good choice of food when you go down for breakfast.
The bad points....1. The rooms need updating.
2. when you go down for breakfast, the choice of food is great BUT its mad down there, very busy and people basically rushing about all over the place,it doesnt matter if its 7am or 10.30am its very very busy.
3. if your staying full board..remember to pack a pair of pants because for the diner service the men cant just walk in wearing a t shirt and shorts, you have to have a pair of trousers on.
To sum it up for me....ive been to tenerife atleast a dozen times before and its probably the kids club and location that would probably make me want to stay at the hotel again.
