My partner and I visited on the 28th June 2018 and we could not have fallen any more in love with this beautiful family restaurant. We are both well travelled and this place is a huge standout for us both, it’s an absolute must visit for any tourist in Rhodes if you have a car - there’s plenty of parking too.

We ordered Cheese Croquettes to share for a starter which we would highly recommend. We had 7 between us and they were a cheese-lovers dream. They tasted so light - even though they where two heavy ingredients, potato and cheese. The crust was thin and crispy and the presentation felt authentic and homely.

We then ordered two mains: Kapamas and Suckling Pig. Both dishes were slow-cooked in a brick oven and this was clear when we began to cut in to the meat.

Kapamas is essentially goat meat with rice and several other Greek flavours and it came in a large portion. It tasted traditional and the goat was so tender that our forks could barely hold it without it falling apart.

Suckling Pig is a slow-cooked pig thigh served with chips and rice. Again, the pig was cooked so well that it would tear apart with our forks - our knives were still clean at the end of the meal.

We left a fair amount of the meal as the portions were so generous but we decided we’d get a little dessert to share to end the meal. Before we could even order it, two slices of homemade cake came out along with two shot glasses of homemade strawberry liquor, followed by some watermelon. This seems to be in line with the reviews we had read before visiting and this is such a nice finishing touch.

The family are so lovely and welcoming, it felt like we were being allowed in to their home to experience a traditional Greek meal. This was a huge highlight from our holiday.

We ordered 4 traditional courses so we could try more things at the same time. And surprisingly all 4 were unsatisfactory. The fried zucchini flowers stuffed with feta was very heavy with oil, covering every other taste. Tzatziki was overwhelmed with garlic, supressing the other ingredients. Snails were in a sweet strange sauce (maybe it is something traditional), but the main problem was that some of the snails were even smelling bad. The meatballs in tomato sauce had the same sweet taste, was oily and the fries next to it seemed frozen. Still it was the best part... We were offered watermelon slices, orange pie and strawberry liquor at the end of the meal - these were alright. I don't know how it is possible it reached such a high place on tripadvisor, we managed to walk into the trap:/

We had a very hard time to find a decent restaurant in Rhodes. when we were on our way to Lindos from Rhodes we stopped by Taverna Artemida.
We did not know what to expect and were worried that it mught be a "tourist trap" but I was wrong.
Upon arriving we were accepted with the warmest smiles, the staff was very nice, we were offfered to sit in the more "windy" pleasent side of the restaurant garden.
I explained to them about a certain intolerance I had and they did everything they could to help me choose the best menu items for me. The fact that the waitresses all knew exactly what every item in the menu contained showed that this is a proffessional place. A kind waitress explained to us that the restaurant is a family business - and you could tell. The place wast pleasent and clean, and outside in the garden there was a little place for kids to play as well.
Apart from the amazing service the food was DREAMY!, we ordered a veal steak and a slow cooked lamb casseroll and enjoyed every bite, the meat was tender and the side dishes so accurately cooked - you could feel that this food was prepared with the heart and the soul.
in the end of the meal we ordered coffee and received the most amazing orange cake.
in conclusion - this is the best restaurant we ate in during our stay in Rhodes, it's worth the drive.
