Predictably Pappas - that's a good thing!
Not BBQ nirvana or Food Channel special. The good food and quick friendly service we expect from the Pappas family, in a BBQ version.

Walking in I appreciated the decor and the old pulley down ceiling fans. Nice touch but that was the high point of the visit. I ordered brisket, ranch beans and the potato salad and to say the least was not impressed. Good brisket requires nothing more than a fork to eat it. Some don't looked good though the bark was thin. Flavor was average but this brisket was so dry that even swimming in BBQ sauce my mouth dried out. Maybe it was a hangover from the brisket but the potato salad seemed dry and was very grainy. And finally the ranch beans tasted like they were out of a can. I love Pappa's other restaurants but their BBQ is no better than than precooked packed brisket from a grocery store with canned sides. Much better places around like Luling BBQ which is a food truck across from Lowe's in Kingwood about 10 minutes away.

Thank Scott K

We stopped in for some grub before our light out on the 5th. We got half a chicken, chicken salad, and burger and fries. Everything was very good and moist, no dryness. The staff was very nice and the condiment area was very nice. It was quite busy and they got us all through very quickly, and the food didnt suffer.

The sandwich/poorboy was really poor quality. It was greasy and the sauce was clearly burned, not smoked but nasty burnt in taste & odor. It must have been burning all day in the pan. I left in total disgust to mad to speak to anybody about how bad it really was.
Chopped beef bbq is to be hand chopped for each sandwich with a person asking if you want sauce or given on the side. This place has their bbq meat soaking in nasty sauce, It is dark colored and nothing like bbq sauce should taste or be. Otherwise the staff is polite.
