Went for breakfast after seeing all the good reviews. The hotel is undergoing major renovations so this probably has affected the restaurant.
The menu is very limited. We had the cheese and ham omelet. It was OK. The presentation was what lacked. Bare plate with omelet and "food service " hashbrowns. No garnish or fruit etc. The toast was made from cheap bread. Would expect more for $40.
I should have seen that the most recent reviews were over a year old.

Driscoll's - Another Nice Breakfast at the Marriott

We were back to the Houston Marriott Medical Center Hotel, while my wife attended several days of meetings at the Texas Medical Center. Her meetings began early, and featured a Continental Breakfast, so I dined downstairs at Driscoll’s on the hotel’s mezzanine solo.

As mentioned, Driscoll’s is on the hotel’s lovely Mezzanine Floor, and serves Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. On a previous visit, it had been closed for Dinner, so I had eaten across the hallway, at Paladora. After my Breakfast, I sort of turned those tables, and had Lunch at Paladora, but from Driscoll’s menu - I’ll show them...

The space is lovely, and divided into several more intimate dining spaces. It would be good for a business Breakfast or Lunch.

I had my coffee (the coffee in our room was from a Mr Coffee, and not very good), and orange juice. I ordered the “Broken Yolk Sandwich,” w/ pecan wood smoked bacon, Veldhuzien Frams Cheddar on Kraftsman Bakery sourdough. That turned out to be a good choice, as it was very flavorful, and had good textures.

Service was good, but I did feel slightly ignored for coffee refills, but likely that I was seated in an area, just a bit off of the beaten path.

The venue is attractive, and though rather active on this morning, the noise level never reached moderate.

I just had a great meal with fantastic service here at Driscolls. Deborah Jackson was our server who was tremendous as well as Joy Poulese. They were so friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend!

Driscoll’s is the perfect place to eat while you are in the Medical Center area. My friend and I needed a good, substantial meal after eating too many snacks while in the hospital. This was the perfect place! Guillermo, our server, could not have been nicer. He recommended the specialty of the day - a hamburger with a fried egg on it! It was delicious and the meat was cooked just as I had asked. Good fries! And a draft beer was included in the price of the burger and fries! What a deal! We went back for breakfast the next morning! It was equally as good! I highly recommend this for a quiet, relaxing meal!

I stayed at the Marriot on several occasions with my mom who is a patient at MD Anderson. I haven't tried their other courses but the breakfast spread was good. The staff are amazing.
